Biscut gets a upgrade (56k make me a samich)

Post by JustRob »

I finally finished reinstalling A/C. It's definitely been a learning experience. I completely converted the system to R134a, not just a retrofit. I learned early on that every single component in the system is different between '92-'93 and '94-'95. From the compressor all the way to the interior heater wire harness. Once I finally sourced all the '94-'95 components thanks to numerous members here, I bought brand new bolts and O-Rings for the entire system. After getting it vacuumed and charged as well as replacing a corroded connector and fixing a short in the signal wire for the pressure switch, it works great now.

honestly mine works but I never use it. It kills my gas milage, not to mention pretty much takes away any power that my D16 has.

Nice.

I got to enjoy going through the same thing (am seeing how the vacuum holds overnight).

Good to hear it works good, especially in this heat.

I went from 36 MPG average to 31 MPG average now that I'm running the A/C every time I drive the car. I can live with that to be comfortable. As for power, it is a noticeable loss. But not as bad as my 280k EX coupe or 170k CRX HF. With the engine having less then 10k miles, it's not as worn as most D16's out there.

We're gonna try to put ac in my car with the b20b in there. We'll see how this turns out. Thats interesting that the 5th gen civic's a/c components changed with different years, but since its after 93, it definitely makes sense. Will definitely have to keep that in mind.

No updates as of now. I have about 5,500 miles on the engine now and it still runs great.
Thats proably the header that I bought for my car. I sold one to Kris after I had my B20 put in. Bought it brand new from summit. It was not on my car for very long at all.

I picked up an F20C 62mm throttle body and a Hondata Heatshield. I'll be getting these installed as well as having my Y8 intake manifold port matched for the throttle body sometime before I turbocharge the car.

This weekend I'm going to be giving the interior a good clean up and finally get some pictures of it posted up.
