A/C problem

My wife has a 94 accord and pulled a dukes of hazard about 2 years ago. Shop said something like an "A/C rod" is broke. They also said the piece cost 1K. Well, Ive never worked on a/c before and i was wondering if anyone knew if this was even the right name for it and if maybe someone would have it on hand.

I have never heard of an AC rod but what is it doing? It just doesnt work or what? A little more detail on what its doing may be useful.

well, the ac doesnt push out cold air. if on while at idle the car will bog down, shake, and start to die. Sometimes it does die and wont start up till a couple minutes later. I checked the pressure and its fine. Last year we were driving to nebraska for vacation and it started to over heat. we pulled over, left the engine running, and turned off the a/c and the temp went back down about five minutes later. Since then we havent really touched it cause i dont feel like replaceing the head gasket. SO i pretty much have no clue...

hmmm I would take it somewhere that works on A/C and hpefully they can explain what is better. Good luck man

when you turn the ac on does the ac compressor kick on???

Are you in O'fallon IL, or MO? If you bring it by I could look at it in my garage. I've done a fair amount of A/C work, Including my own accord. The overheating at idle w/ ac on, almost sounds like the fan wasn't coming on. Mine was doing it last year until I replaced the fans.

Regardless, sound like something else is wrong too. and $1000 is INSANE. I hate shops....

My BAD.... I see this was posted WAY back. Summer's over,... no need for a/c.
