Ok well this is a update as of today.

Most people will remember my sicking thread about the destruction of the last

well i think that pretty much sums up the part list minus a cpl small things i still wanna do, going to clean the E-bay up more and relocate some more things, clean up the tuck a little more and add some new hosing and SS lines for certain items.

This i will be my build thread for the red car for a while so i will constantly update this as we progress

here are the pics

UPDATE:

friday night we pulled the motor from the car and started disassembly of the old motor to scavenge reusable parts for the new block.

ignore the bottom rear of the tranny , i moved it and it spit out some tranny fluid so i had to wait for the paint to dry so i could clean it up and finish spraying it.
also the hose on the speedo cable thing is getting replaced thats why i painted it also lol

BONUS --- car runs , started up tonight after a little battery isuue, had a cpl small things we needed to strighten out but nothing serious. Last cpl things i need to do are swap fuel rails, instll 310cc injectors and dbl check everything and get it ready to take to lowe to get tuned.

but i will say right now the car revs good, has a crazy lope/idle to it and i think i will need to put a high TQ starter on it very soon.

OK UPDATE 6/12/08

I haven't updated this in a while due to just being really depressed about this whole build and to be honest just plain overly nervous and stressed out about this whole thing. In my last update i posted that the car started and ran ... but what i never mentioned was that it smoked BAD and would not idle correctly at all .. basically the motor had issues .. what they were at the time we could not figure out. So after messing with the car for a few hair pulling days i finally got out the compression tester and went to town... ending results were 200 psi on 3 cylinders and 30 psi on cylinder # 4. SO after all this work and trying to make sure everything was correct and done right the motor is bad aka useless. At this point i was at a loss but needed to figure this shit out , so after talking to a couple of people and getting some ideas we started trouble shooting and looking for the quick fix.

so we pulled the head to make sure that it was seating correctly, upon first inspection it "looked" good no stuck valves, no oil on the piston. So onto the next probable cause a stuck piston ring or the rings not being clocked right .. but we did ALL the pistons the same way how could just one be bad , so we dropped the oil pan and pulled a piston just to find out NOTHING was wrong , rings were correct no scoring of the cylinder WTF. So we reassembled the motor again using gasket sealer and 30w oil this time so i could TQ the head down more hoping this would fix it ... and nothing the same damn thing happened again still smoking it ass off.

So the only choice motor has to come apart and be completely torn down to nothing and sent to the machine shop again, BUT this time upon disassembly we noticed something .. the head was NOT seating at all around cylinder #4 the whole outside of the head and block was not showing any MLS transfer from the head gasket (meaning it was not seating evenly across the block) Problem possibly found, so off to the machine shop the head goes .. get a call from them 24hrs later .. Head checks out after doing a leak down and its only about .02 warped so they take a quick .05 cut off it just to give it a new surface and to make sure 100% thats its right. So that means there is a issue with the block
so off the block goes to the shop to be decked (.05 off also) the bores were checked and everything is good.

well i got everything back about 2 months ago and have just been too chicken shit to put it back together just to have the same issues again because nothing serious was found. So after finally getting to the point of just being tired of not being able to drive the car i am finally starting on rebuild #5 again.

-Progress made last night was block fully reassembled, repainted balled chrome again, all sensors reinstalled, oil sandwich adapter installed with the oil pressure sending unit for my gauge and the oil feed line for the head, timing belt and cover and mounts for the motor and ALT.

-So tonight i need to reinstall the water cross over tube, my mugen thermostat, mugen fan switch, fly wheel, clutch and reinstall the tranny and put the motor in the car.

-plan is for the motor to be done and running by sunday night so we will see

chris is using one, a few others have them, as do I. I purchased mine because it was cheap (and already lightly ported) and compared it to stock units, and it is a much bigger plenum and open design. the aluminum may be a little bit softer than others, but the manifold is not 'weak' by any means.
I have not heard problems with leaking like i have with other products either... Sure, there are some idiosyncrasies: the holes for the t/b studs are not perfectly straight, the t/b is cocked a little back, but they are all in alignment and do not prevent mounting the t/b in any way. I have also heard that the inlet (65mm) is not exactly round, it is slightly oblong, but mine was ported so it is fine. otherwise, i haven't found any issues... its cheaper than others, so these minor "flaws" can be overlooked since they don't hurt the performance or usability of the product.

i will do an AEBS vs. Stock B16 comparison w/ pics later tonight if you want... i think i am bored enough

fixed and edited for the head info

as far as the aebs manifold goes i am with steve on this one , seeing as how its designed after the type r one and that at what point are you willing spend 100 more on 1-2 more hp? I got a good deal on it and if i upgrade it will be to the polished one because i have changed my mind about the E-bay of the civic again lol
