really? i've never done one before. from everything i read it sounded like you had to have them pressed out and the new ones pressed in. whats your trick?

ok the ball joint has a c clip on the top of it (you will need to have the hub off of the car still) remove the c clip, and then hammer it out from the bottom. The old one will come out pretty easy, then place the new one in the hub smack it back in with a hammer and replace the c clip and your done

Take out the snap ring and smack the old one out with a hammer. Tap the new one on and replace the snap ring.

wow, so yeah, its been a while since an update...i guess i've got some stuff done over the past 2 months, but my motivation to get this thing done has really fell off the map. i'm still hoping to get it done before IA in july, so we'll see. anyways, so this is what i've done since the last update:

- front supsension is back together and on. i did new bearings, ball joints (upper and lower), illuminas, gc coilovers, ss lines, hawk pads and integra calipers on em1 spindles (because apparently the dude i bought my "integra" brake setup sold me an em1 setup so all my parts i ordered were for a dc2 setup, luckily i had integra calipers laying around and they bolted right up to the em1 knuckles).

- rear has the same setup w/ ss lines, rear disk conversion, civic ex brake lines. i'm currently waiting (very very very patiently) on my rear lca bushings. I bought a PIC bushing kit and all the bushings fit perfect except the rear lca ones. I contacted PIC and they said they mistakenly sent me the wrong ones so they'd send me replacements. well, that was about 2 months ago. every time i contact them they say "they'll be there next week" right. so, i'm expecting them next week, like the fool i am. hopefully they'll be here, if not very soon i'm just going to pick up a different set up lcas.

- engine: i pulled the head from the block and sent the block off to Dasco Performance Engines down the street from my house. again i've had some crappy luck w/ them. the guy told me 3-5 days, multiple times, and its been a month. luckily i've been pretty busy over the last few weeks and haven't had time to get to my car anyways or i'd be freaking out. i'm getting to that point though. it should be done monday, at least thats what i was told, so i guess i'll find out tomorrow. Dasco is supposed to be cleaning it up, checking all the clearances, fixing a few stripped tranny bolt threads and assembling the bottom end. i was going to assemble it myself, but i chickened out and decided i better have a pro hook it up so i'm not re-doing it in a few months. i've also been semi-patient since they had it for a week while i was waiting on honda to get my rod bearings in. so, basically they've had it for 3 weeks w/ the parts they need. so, i don't know, maybe 3-5 days really means 3-5 weeks in engine building world? :(

here are a few pics of what i'm looking at right now, hoping to be together, inspected, and tuned before the end of july...yikes.

i also have a funky wiring problem maybe somebody can help me out w/. so, i haven't really touched the wiring much since about a year ago so i kind of forget exactly how it was run before. i have one plug that i'm a little confused on. everything else i've figured out. on the headlight harness, there is a plug coming off of it that i pulled through the firewall along w/ my fuse box wiring and i can't figure out what it goes to. anybody know? i don't really have anything left that needs to be plugged into it so i'm wondering if it was just not used before. i'm not sure. here is a pic:

thanks for looking. hopefully i'll get some more drastic updates here in a few weeks.

Is that the plug that controls the fan, horn, etc.? Or possibly A/C?

honestly man, i'm not sure, thats my problem. it could be. what a/c plug would plug into this one? or are you thinking it may plug in somewhere up near the front of the car? there just isn't a whole lot of slack for it coming off the fuse box plugs to this to make me think it would run too far in the bay towards the front of the car, unless the plug that plugs into this runs up the bay towards the firewall and they meet like 1/2 way or something. i'll check on that tonight. that actually could make sense now that i think about it...

finally got the block back. everything looks really nice. it was pretty sweet when i picked it up, the owner was like, name your price :) so i got a pretty good deal on having it assembled. i guess sometimes it pays to be patient w/ people. heres a few pics:

its nothing crazy, 1.8 ls block 20 over w/ PR3 RS machines pistons on stock rods and ARP bolts. the moroso oil pan will be up for sale shortly :wink2:

i'm debating on painting the block, but i'm just afraid that if i do, the paint might eventually start flaking off and look like crap. and since i'm and idiot and ordered the wrong headgasket, i have to wait for the new one to get here then i plan to re-assemble everything and drop it in the bay. hopefully by next weekend it will be back in the car...if everything goes smoothly *knock on wood* my goal is still to have it ready for Import Alliance in july. thanks for looking!
