I am fully aware of what you did. Nor did I bash your setup either. There's nothing wrong with it, but for the amount you did, I'd have opted definitely for the greens. I personally prefer them over the R's anyday.SikofFalln;59986 wrote:I guess that makes you just as ignorant. Either that or you didn't really read what I did. Are you planning to auto x at all? I'm not sure why you went w/ this setup if you haven't the intention of fully using it.
Also....how are you breaking this setup in?

Not bad, any reason why you didn't buy a ITR 5 lug setup with all the brake stuff?

stock size rotors + lines + "almighty green stuff" pads are supposed to be "just as good, if not better" than larger rotors/calipers + lines + Hawk pads + MC? Let's hear some reasons people! :fencing: :happy1:

In the OP he didnt list the hawk pads or lines. If you take a stock ITR setup and put it up against a brembo/hawk(or green stuff)/ss lines setup, the after market setup will out preform but will be a little more vulnerable to break fade.tmarsh;60009 wrote:stock size rotors + lines + "almighty green stuff" pads are supposed to be "just as good, if not better" than larger rotors/calipers + lines + Hawk pads + MC? Got any tech on this? Brembo blanks are nothing special, I've never heard a good thing about EBC "they save you dust by eating your rotors" greenstuff, and if you look past the "vtec godliness" of a type r, their brakes have always been reviewed as simply amazing. Isn't the whole concept behind a successful brake setup to produce consistant results, aka, not fade?btlfedgolf;60012 wrote:In the OP he didnt list the hawk pads or lines. So are you comparing a brake pad to a brake setup? I am a little confused with this remark. As I made no mention of using a Type R pad, just the caliper. I like greens, I have had green stuff pads all the way around on two of my old hatches. I am more then familiar with them. As I stated before once I get some sticky tires I will upgrade the pads. It became a time thing and I didn't/forgot to order the pads I really wanted, so I had to make due.SlowOne.5;59994 wrote:I'd have opted definitely for the greens. Yes I am planning to auto x it and I would love to eventually get into some form of road racing. Not until next season though, as I spend a lot of time out of town working. Now that I think about it, this comment pisses me off as I never stated what my intention was with the car, nor do I think it should matter.SlowOne.5;59994 wrote:Are you planning to auto x at all? Just some milled mannered driving. I have a 5 year old to cart around, so I am anything but a lead foot.SlowOne.5;59994 wrote:Also....how are you breaking this setup in?
I am aware of the Brembo high carbon thing, that is why I used Brembo blanks. I keep hearing a recurring theme about green stuff pads. I am well aware of the quality of those pads, as I stated earlier I have owned 2 other hatches, a 92 and an 89, that both had EBC green stuff pads with slotted and dimpled rotors all the way around. I just want to try something different so I am going to get some Hawk pads instead.
I am going to add a rear sway bar, some adjustable compensator arms, and ground control top hats. That should finish my suspension setup, well I may get some tower bars, but some friends are saying I should just cage it, but as it is my daily and I have a kid, I think the cage will wait. Either way, that won't be happening any time soon. lolSilverStreak;60031 wrote:I like it, those are def. some nice upgrades. What are your plans for the car now?
I am going to start doing a mild NA build on the GSR motor I have sitting in my basement. Hopefully I can get it together by next summer. I just bought a house, so my disposable income has decreased.

Why do I ask? B/c I can, for one. You post up mods, be prepared for questions.
Two, I asked b/c I see all too often kiddies and/or ricers want the "pretty", bigger, slotted/drilled, etc. setups, for "wow" factors only.
I couldn't tell you how many forums I've read with idiots wrecking their cars b/c of non-proper break-ins, and/or destroying their setups.
There's no need for larger setups for street use, IMO. Buy a better brand; problem solved.
So, in summary, I was merely asking to see what your plans were. Again, I wasn't bashing you...so go piss and get some of the sand out of your vag. sheesh
