Yeah.....although I do have an inverter tig in my garage.....almost everything on my car is either made by my brother and I. You need to make less assumptions about people and comprehend what people post before you reply.bildo16;29364 wrote:hence why i said, it would prolly cost a little bit more. apparently youve never tig'd before. cause if you had, you would know what im talkin about. i guess if the guy who did it for you gave a deal on labor, then go for it, but if you were to pay normal rates, then it probably would have been cheaper to buy mandrel bent pipes.
And if you did read zenki's posts, it IS a buddy of his helping him out. So like I said....doing what they did was probably cheaper.

im not trying to insult you, what i meant was that tig can be very tedious, and there are a lot of welds on those charge pipes, even if it were a friend helping me, i would still buck up and purchase some bends. his work is good, i like the raw look also, but with prebent sections, it would look much smoother and less chopped together. it would also be less of a headache, cause 20 hours is a very long time to spend on charge pipes. that time could have very well been cut in half with prebent pipes. since i have friends who do similar things, i woud still pay them and also make it as easy on them as i could, cost effective or not, cause they are friends. like i said before, great stuff, great to see someone take the intiative and build their own setup.

I know what your saying, but the thing is, i prefer the look of the chopped up pipes compared to the smooth bent pipe. And the whole fabrication part, i really enjoy spending all that time working on it. It is what makes it all worth it! Thats one of the main reasons i did it, it was way more fun to cut and fabricate it all up rather than install some prebent pipes. I dont mind the lost time, because in my eyes it isnt lost. I really enjoyed it!

Day 3 of fabrication:
We started and finished the hot pipe today.

All welded up...so far.

Some great looking welds, IMO.

Yes, i know my fan shroud is destroyed, i dont wanna explain.

Doing some more pipe cutting. This is the new saw my buddy got recently.

The TIG welder.

Fitting some more pipes.

Welding some stuff up, just tacking it, so we can test the fit.

Just a picture of the garage.

Almost done. Fitting some more pipes.

All tacked up for final test fit.

All finished and welded up hot pipe. w00t

Both of the upper pipes. Hot pipe on top, cold pipe on bottom.

Yay for mothers polish.

Fitting my BOV flange.

Abbey Road Company. F T W.

Drilling the whole in the hot pipe for the BOV flange.

Welding the flange on.

DONE, Done, and DONE!

Yay for being a dork.

Couple close ups.

End of day 3 pics.

So what do you guys think? :happyguns

best part about it all and my most favorite part that you did that yourself. i give you props for that. alot of people wine and cry when they have to weld but good job man it looks great.
