and a picture of the air movement on the outside of a car... (shown on a 3rd gen accord which has a drag coefficient of .32)
if the arrows on the back of the hood pointed up, you could logically assume the hood would vent, but since it is a low pressure area, it does suck air in if allowed to. and like my other post said, with an intake positioned close to the front bumper, the cowling does not help at all. the most efficient it could be is if you had just a few inches of straight piping and a filter attached to the t/b, that way the filter would actually utilize the cooler air coming in. OR if you had a supercharger setup where you were creating tons of excess heat in the back of the engine bay(but you wouldn't have the venting/sucking cooling effect on a dyno, only on the street).
This post comes with a guarantee: I guarantee that I don't care what you think about it.
my turn, it does not matter what we think about how the cowl venting works because it does work, all you have to do is look at the many many honda civic/integras turned out by the many tuning companys in japan. Almost every single one has the same hood mod, no matter what we may think it works and it does increase the flow of air THROUGH the engine compartment. NOT to increase horse power or to increase air flow into the motor. It is simply to help increase the air flow through the radiator thus cooling the car and helping prolong the life span of the motor.
2coupes, no offence but i simply do not like the way your car looks or the way it presents itself, you bought a bunch of "name" products and threw them on your car and hoped that they would suddenly make your car somthing special. But unfortunetly that did not happen, nothing on your car flowes, the stickers are gaudy (if your going to do stickers make them all the same color ) the black rims dont look very well on the car, you need to lower it more and take more advantage of the high dollar suspension you put on your daily driver that will never see the track.
EDIT: just realized what i really dont like about your car, the old rims mainly, but the bra and the stupid ass mirrors are the mail offenders
blah i could go on but your car has offically made me not want to build a ej1 coupe, sorry your car has a ton of potential but it seems that you go from one extream to the other.
was that really necessary?
i swear you jdm freaks are something else :rolleyes2:
-Potts You don't know what you're talking about. You're not very smart, and the things you're saying are nonsense. And I'm not angry. But you do need to shut up.

i hope to be in the StL/Ofallon area sometime soon
Why in the world did you buy a civic.....and then try to make it unique? Everything has been done on a civic. Here is a unique idea (and its already been done)...make it a rwd civic, maybe use a rx-7 motor, that is unique. I really can't see how a near stock civic would be fun to drive......I dunno.

and as far as the race parts, did you not see the suspension? that's where most of my focus has gone
It seems like you put more focus on interior and exterior looks and pieces than something that actually performs.

chris
:ohsnap: :owned: I couldn't have said it better man. But Chris the bra is on there for a reason bc the hood is messed up:bsflag: . Im sorry but I rather see a faded paint job then a nasty ass bra. Or atleast put the bumper part o also. But yea you put alot of money in this coupe and it looks worse than you got it. Didnt buy this one with a odykit on it? Atleast it looked car as a show car. And also how is it fun to drive a near stock d sereis motor car? I mean it may handle well but its slow as balls. But hey do you want to do man.
SilverStreak02;14718 wrote:Whats the deal with the Honda of America badges and the VIN tag? I didn't know that EJ1/2s came with a D16A :dunno:
japanese civic coupes were made in america and sold in japan as a novelty for the japanese market, the badges were meant to be like a special edition, but the japanese market coupe didn't do too well, they came with a d16a engine, it's basically the same as a d16z6, you won't find those badges or vin tag on any us market coupes

i belive you, but those cars coming out of major tuners in japan with the hood cocked up like that are putting some power to the ground. if this guy was puttin out like 300 whp, i wouldnt say anything, but since its prolly puttin out like 100 whp(give or take a few) i think it is pointless. no stickers+no bra+different wheels= 10000000000000 times better. it also looks like your rear lower tie bar is crooked, is that so your exhaust will clear it or sumthin?
and since there was some discussion abou the bra, here's an old pic of what the hood is like underneath
i don't wanna ride around with white spots all over it, so I got the bra
