ok, so cooler air is coming in

are you saying that's bad? the intake manifold is right there

:whs:

in order for a cowl induction to have an advantage the air needs to go directly to the air intake, not the whole engine compartment. take for instance this Chevelle which had a stock cowl induction, see the thick rubber gasket around the intake? when the hood is down this sticks up into the cowl and seals the air intake from the rest of the engine compartment, making sure that no more air is going in there than necessary

its not about cowl induction.... its nothing about any type of induction at all. its simply about moving air through the engine bay as youre moving. allowing the engine to get a cooler source of air to help cool things off.

think of this... pop your hood up on a mid summers day after driving on the highway for and hour or so. when you open the hood, its hot. everything is hot, the engine, exhaust, intake manifold, battery, hoses, wires, air. now..... open the back of the engine bay up, by raising the hood a couple of centimeters... after a mid summers day driving on the highway for an hour or so. pop open the hood. it will still be hot. the exhaust manifold, engine, etc will still be hot, but not as much because there was some sort of air flow over everything.

dont think this is my personal view on it. ive heard of people doing this for several years. does it help? i dont know.... does it hurt anything?... i dont know...

right, its kind of a toss up, yet i have still yet to hear about a cowl hood actually helping when its not sealed :dunno:

we should make a test out of it this summer :D

i think popping the hood like that helps, all i did was remove the weatherstripping from the crx and when it rains the water gets pushed up off the cowl onto the windshield. if you have true cowl induction the raised part of the hood is seal to the top of the intake. if you just had the cowl or your hood raised the volume of air coming through the front of the car is much larger than the volume of air that could be sucked in through the cowl or your raised hood. air usually takes the path of least resistance so its going to come in through the front go out anywhere thats not sealed most likely the rear of your hood since its open and not sealed anymore.

for one wtf is up with the green names, for two I understand the theory thing going on but his car is nice and I like the blue lugs. Me personally want red rims on my car just to stand out more then what I am and be different, sorta like how Spork wants orange rims if I do remember correctly. As for almost everything he bought being off ebay, I'm a ebay person too and I havent never got a part off ebay that couldn't perform to something with a name stamp on it.

But anyways I like that car to tell ya the truth.
