So I was at lowes picking something up today, only to come back to a car that didn't start.
I waited until I could wave someone down to ask for a jump. I ask this 35-45 year old lady in a newish jeep cherokee if she could give me a jump.
"I don't have any cables" she replies.
I tell her, "thats ok, I have some right here." (no I was not pointing to some type of rape van).
She then tells me, "I don't think I should." Then she drove off.
I turned away with a, "wow, really?" look on my face.
End of story. I did end up getting help from a lowe's employee, which was nice.
Courtesy is a thing of the past.....I really guess I shouldn't be that surprised.

I took the bike to the river with the GF on afternoon.
A mans van (not rape van) needed a jump.
I was standing nearby when he came to a newer Toyota Corolla. He ask the man for a jump and the guy said he'd rather not. The man needing the jump, walked away discouraged. I then here the man who said no's wife and daughter berate him for being an asshole.
His excuse: "I didn't want to damage our car"
This man looked to be in his early 50s, and American. How the fuck can you be that old and not understand"giving a jump"?

what a cunt.
a few days ago I was on kingshighway and there was a older gentleman with a flat tire in a striped median at a traffic light. he had his hazards on and spare tire sitting against his car. I would have gladly helped so he could be on his way but I didn't have a jack or tire iron with me. felt kinda bad for the guy as a countless amount of people drove past him.
I've helped out quite a bit of people at gas stations and such with jumping batteries and other minor things that only takes minutes to do.
