Quoted for truth, we stopped caring and that pretty much shut the site down
this statement, upsets me, is the site shut down? nope, actually its doing better than it ever has. i just dont understand how you think "GMR" made this site and broke it, care to clarify?

ill be the first to admit some things arent organized as well as they could be, there is 1 or 2 big events every year (the dyno days), there is nothing stopping anybody from putting meets together or cruises. the midnight madness booth, i dropped the ball on that, when i was calling and emailing nobody at gateway knew what was going on i just kept getting passed on to different people, that didnt have any answers, this was rather discouraging. jen was a lot of help during that time and actually got the meet and greet thing at gateway setup which was a flop because of the short notice and lack of organization, we are much better equipped to handle something like that now. i will call gateway tomorrow and see about a midnight madness booth. as for a meet or cruise im planning a meeting to discuss things with rick and mods to see about getting something "official" setup.

this GMR bullshit is part of the problem. sure, you guys may have started people going to bbt, but at the end how many of you showed up? Chris was there on and off with jen, rob showed up on and off as well. and i saw alex a few times there as well. the rest were filled by other members and some nights there were quite a few us there, some nights just a few like me, crxfreak, sharpie, gsrauto, and delso. the way some of you guys talk like GMR is the greatest thing to happen to this site is a huge turn off. im sure you guys did some good things, and i cant say that i have problems with you guys because with several of you i dont. but the way you are talking like this site exists because of GMR? thats how it comes across. same with the bubble tea thing. the last few times ive been there(which hasnt been lately so this may not be true anymore) there wasnt even a member of GMR there, so you cant act like its GMR's doing that bbt exists. like i said, sure you guys did good things for this site and for meets/events, but get off the pedestal, you dont there are other, non GMR members who arent capable of setting up things?
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

Thats just what I get out of it, and it instantly turns me off.

My apologies if I misunderstand.

First off ... i really dont want to side track this thread with peoples randoms opinions, but i made a VERY true and factual statement based on the fact that 80% of the events, happenings, cruises, meets, social gatherings etc WERE put on or organized by fellow GMR members *IMPORTANT PART* 2YEARS AGO

In the last 2 years since gateway shut down, GMR disbanding, lack of organization from this site and people running this site there have been very few LARGE meets or social gatherings outside of people's normal social groups

in the 2 years prior, people who were part of gmr did the following MONTHLY

Made BBT meet post (on a avg there USED to be 10+ members of GMR there weekly)
Made Threads and organized going to gateway for test n tune WEEKLY
Made Threads and organized Cruises
Made Threads and organized going to local events (local cars showes, the lot etc)
Made the MM BOOTH thread and organized cars to show up (oh yea everybody volunteered but only GMR showed up ..imagine this)
Made threads and organized going to out of town events (starved rock, Import alliance, the ill garage car show in chicago etc)
Made threads and organized having BBQ/ice cream/drinking etc hang outs
We used to meet at sonic at elm every sat night and go racing weekly
We used to help work on the majority of the cars on the site
ETC
ETC
ETC

i mean shit i can go on, but the facts speak for themselves .. the people who made up GMR and our friends on this site made up a large part of what happened on this site ... we didnt make the site but we helped it grow by being a large INVOLVED part of the site and community, so when we stopped doing ALL the things listed ALL those things stopped happening as often... and that slowed the site down ALOT and that is what i am saying

ALL of us are still involved in the community, but we no longer help promote the community or are as involved anymore... not that we dont want to be but more from the fact all anybody wants to do it talk shit on the people who do what everybody else just talks about ... ive said it before and proved my point MANY times before .... but hey im just some old guy so WTF do i know right

I've NEVER said im better then anybody, I have always let my actions and cars speak for themselves... many may not agree or like me because i say what is on my mind but atleast with me you know who i am

bring on the usless BS and banter that i know will come because i made this reply

Umm.... I'm gonna go ahead and stop you there killer. I set up the bubble tea meets. Me. I did 100% of the legwork to get that started. I knew employees and coordinated a night with the owner where the typical business was slow enough to basically allow us free reign. Jimmy (the owner) even started staffing an extra person on thursdays just for our business.

I did that, and all of the cruises Rob and I organized, as both a member of GMR and a moderator here. I put forth a ton of effort for this place, but I gave up when the only response I got was hate posts from people who couldnt be bothered to participate, let alone organize something on their own.

Not for the GMR thing... If there was even one member here who was inspired to put a little extra effort into their car just to shut us up or prove us wrong, then it worked. You're welcome, the whole idea was to push members here into building cooler shit. Now, if we discouraged you because you didn't feel like you could step up, I'm sorry. But honestly, you weren't going to do it anyway, don't make us your scapegoat. It is funny tho that this many years later, GMR is still such a sore subject around here.
This post comes with a guarantee: I guarantee that I don't care what you think about it.

Being a non GMR member and having no other affiliation with them other than seeing them at a lot of meets and on FB....I agree with their statements. Steve(spork) did start bbt meets, even with all the hate they inspired a lot of people to push themslves, and finally they did bring a lot of attention to meets/gatherings wether thy organized them or not. The only other group I see starting to step up is the stl troll squad(mainly Alex).

i stand corrected, regardless i wasnt saying GMR is a bunch of dicks or anything, most of you are cool people. but my point about you guys not going anymore for quite a while is still fact. like i said, did gmr do things to help? yes. but to act like this site and the honda scene here in st louis is the way it is because of gmr is a wild overstatement. i appreciate the fact that you set it up, just like i appreciate the fact that Jen is now trying to set things for a booth at midnight madness, cruises, etc. but the fact is, any of us can do more to set things up and make it easier instead of just having a couple people trying to do everything. GMR is not a sore subject with me, like i said, i have no problems with most of you guys. hell ive bought and sold a few things from you steve, never had any problem with you. same goes for hanley, alex, jen and a couple others. but to make the statement that

i have a very hard time believing. unless you mean that people in general stopped caring, but it looks to me like you are saying GMR stopped caring and shut the site down, which never happened.
