Why don't you guys do something about it instead of just talking about it? That's what GMR did when the forum first started. Most of the meets Redline mentioned were originally setup by GMR members. When forum members started to get upset that a group of friends gave themselves a name, I stopped caring about setting up meets for the board. Just because people are standing in a group talking doesn't make them a clique. Walk up to them and start a conversation. We all have a common interest, otherwise this site wouldn't exist. We wouldn't set these meets up if we didn't want new people to be involved. I also stopped going to Bubble Tea meets since people are more interested in going to Sonic. Which I don't understand at all. We have a place to hang out at where we don't have to deal with law enforcement and the property owners enjoy having us there.

Sonic=d bags (for the most part). Now that said things have actually gotten a lot nicer at sonic since the cops started hanging out there all night. I think they know most of the regulars and don't give us too much trouble. But BBT is just a whole different scene. It's really just a smaller venue and a nice quiet place to hangout. Plus that bad ass FD rolls by ever now and then, that just makes it better. But I say we start by bringing back BBT and go from there.

Quoted for truth, we stopped caring and that pretty much shut the site down

Jen has offered many times to help set up cruises, meets AND a stlhondas booth at MM and all shot down by the owner and other mods of this site so.... This site just dosnt have the organization, drive or want to do anything anymore.

I try to make it out when I can. I have been to the last couple dyno days for example but I do not make it out all that often. I would not be opposed to coming to something if people want to set it up but like others I am older now and have to plan around things that take priority.

Also people think I am maybe an asshole cause I don't talk to people really other than the few I know... it's not a personal thing, it is me being uncomfortable around groups of people. If you walk up to me and start a conversation I will talk your ear off as most of you know. I just am not an overly outgoing person in crowds. I stay pretty low key and just go out solo most times to cruise around by myself or (like now) my car is down for some changes so I am not doing much.

care to point names of the owner and mods that shoot the ideas down?

i havent said anything in this thread because i am interested in seeing what the people want and dont want to get any bias sway going.

edit.
on a side note, recently ive been to the dyno day, mm, bubble tea, the lot(or whatever they call that once a month meet in st charles at the church), and sonic and see very little to no hondas. and im sure the people that were with me can vouch for me when i say that when i was out i was bedazzled by the lack of hondas at any of the place (other than the dyno day due to the fact that it was a stlhondas.com event)

I was just saying it seems to be a small core of people that try to attend each official STL Hondas event (not talking about bubble tea or sonic or that stuff but the dyno days and such).

People like this kept me away when I had a nice car. I just have no desire to associate with people with this kind of shitty attitude. Get over yourself already, you're nothing special either kid.

Comments like this is half the reason keeping me from wanting to meet more of you... Its a vicious cycle, if you have a negative attitude yourself and dont give ppl a first fair shake, no one is ever going to get along...

Im pretty new but have had the opportunity of meeting a few of you, haven't had a problem and everyone seemed pretty cool... Also, I do have two jobs and the weekend is when I do everything around the house and w/e other issues come up. For the most recent meet, I really wanted to make it out there but my Rad went to shit and had to get that fixed instead, seems like everytime there is a meet something else comes up that I HAVE to attend to...Hopefully next time I can make it.

BBT is a great place, so long as the cops dont feel like being dicks and trying to tell us we cant hang out and talk outside like they do every once in a while. the owners loved having us there. every time i go in there the one girl always asks when we will be back. as far as the clique shit goes its simple, walk up and talk to people. when i first went i didnt know anybody. but i walked up and joined in on the conversation instead of sitting by myself bitching about everyone being in cliques. its not our job to walk over to the corner of the parking lot just to talk to you because you cant walk up to the group and join in. i still attend events whenever i can and know alot of you are pretty cool in person. plan to move up to the area this year so hopefully i can attend more events

There are cliques. I did not define what a clique was, but standing with your friends certainly is not a clique.

Very well said about BBT. I've been to many gatherings here and my home town, and you see it on the internet all the time, where cops just harass people for being there. BBT appreciates our business, and is fine with us taking up many of their parking spots to socialize.

I sort of feel differently, and when I'm at a meet I usually act differently too. Anyone who rolls into a group as an outsider, is going to feel a bit of tension and a bit anxious . That is not our problem. However, as a group advocating the meeting of said new members, we should go out of our way to socialize with the people we haven't met. If a new car shows up, a few of us, should wonder over and greet them. It's not our job per say, to be the ambassadors for stlhondas. I just think we can be more inviting.

I too walked up and spoke to 20-25 faces I'd never seen before and it was fine. Many don't have the social courage for that.
As a whole, stlhondas could be more inviting at the physical gatherings.

i know there are cliques, but the times I've been to bbt its generally one big group of people all talking maybe a couple smaller groups looking at cars or something. i know its hard for a lot of people, it was hard for me but i did it. but it seems like the people that complained about the cliques rolled up and didn't even attempt to talk to any of us, then left and ranted about it on here.
all I'm saying is come say hi before being judgmental and labeling everyone as too good to talk to you or stuck up. i don't know of anyone on here that would flat out ignore someone if they came up, introduced themselves and said hi. now if you come in acting like a jack ass revving your car up, doing burnouts, drifting, etc then of course people aren't going to be very inviting because your messing up a good spot(generally doesn't happen at BBT but there have been a few cases). i have seen new people come up introduce themselves, join in on the conversation, check out cars, etc and have a great time. you can't expect to not contribute and have a good time is what im saying i guess. if new people came out and joined in im sure they would have a good time. :yo:
