2012 Honda CBR 250r or 2012 Ninja 250r

Post by sirricealot »

I know this is a Honda forum and will probably get bias but I'm researching bikes and it's between the CBR or the Ninja. I've read that the Ninja just looks better and has a long track record but the CBR is a little faster. The ninja is a twin and honda is a single.

Very hard to decide what to pursue. I'm probably getting one in July after I take my safety course. I have always liked the looks of the Ninja however the Honda seemed to have been faster. Yeah they are both 249cc.

Any input? Maybe experienced riders out there with insight as to which one would be a better pick?

Brand new(08+) Ninja 250r over the cbr. They are amazing starter bikes and look great.

Yeah I'm only going new. Figured it would be easier to get a loan plus warranty.

at least get a 600. 250's suck big time. i learned on a 2001 CBR 600 f4i. i had friends that started on 250's and they hate them almost immediately when went for a ride with the 600's or bigger.
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

I decided I'm doing 250 a long time ago. I feel like I'd be more comfortable on a 250. I know some ppl say you'll wanna go bigger after a few months but I don't mind the 250. The friend I'd be riding with has one of those street legal dirtbikes. I forget what they call them.

Less torque and lower top speed.

i never went the top speed on the 600. i wasnt comfortable going that fast so i didnt. you can be comfortable on any bike, you just have to respect it. when you lose that respect is when you get in trouble

Well my friend pointed out that higher cc the higher the torque in lower gears. but im comfortable with the price tag of a 250 as well.

Very good idea to start on the 250. I think the 08+ Ninja is the best looking 250 out there, and it has a proven track record which will likely correlate into a higher resale value.
