I went to SWIC also. Never took geography, but several science courses. The best teacher I had there was Mr. McGarrity in the history department. If you really like history take his class.Bwill9886;286754 wrote:Pros: It's a pretty nice looking campus. Prices were too bad (at least when I first started).
Cons: If you don't double check the advice they give you they'll fleece every dime from you they can (though a lot of colleges are guilty of this now).
Oh, and killer geese.
I went for a B.S. in Geography, Specialization in GIS and honestly felt I learned much more from my GIS professor at SWIC in Belleville (Mr. Arnold, who is honestly the best teacher I've ever had for anything). They have a nice growing Geography department with some good professors but their GIS classes could use some work.
Also for those who think that a University is harder than a community college, that is simply not true. It depends on the teacher. I had some very hard classes (by hard I mean I had to put a lot of work or had a lot of homework)...
At SIUC there are a lot of lecture halls that you don't even need to go to, just show up for the test and you pass.
Yea I double check everything the colleges say when it comes to money and what classes to take. I actually pick my own classes because too many people get screwed by not double checking.
(Cant say its always the counselors fault, if you try to go see a counselor the week before school starts, they are busy as hell)
If I do go to Edwardsville, then it will be my 4th college I've gone to.....lol. So I have a very good idea on the way they work.
and the prices there aren't bad. (yes in general, college is too damn expensive)
