I'm gonna get flamed for this but...I'm tempted to take S2's side as it were. If I offer a product for sale in a very competitive market, I wouldn't give out what could be considered trade secrets either. Its not your business where my product is built or where I got the design. You like my product, buy it. If you don't, then don't. Its that simple.

I don't think that's the main issue that's being raised. Though I know that is being brought up currently in the various debates on the forums.

Sounds to me like people are disgusted that S2 is acting in a completely unprofessional manner and are voicing their already pent-up anger at the company in response.

S2 can be angry people are digging into their history, but posting a "bounty" on forums for info on those involved is downright unprofessional (not to mention a bit sketchy from a legal perspective).

Do you think it is sketchy legally? I'm asking because I don't honestly know. I don't think it would be any different than posting an ad saying "info on shooting that happened". Maybe introducing money for information is what would make it illegal.

Your latter point is what makes it sketchy. One of the two people who S2 wants info on is even thinking about legal action. I think he plans to say they are attempting to steal his identity with their "bounty." The fact that it is asking for personal information (not just information in general, or information that can be commonly found online) is the real problem here.

I honestly don't think what has currently transpired will really hold up much in a court. Everything is just not concrete enough.

However, if they were to be caught actually following through with their promise of money for identity information there might be something.
