New struts or have shop install?

Post by sirricealot »

I was given a quote from someone I know that has a shop that to install my lowering springs on the front of my Cobalt for 150-175. I have debated to just get new struts and mounts and put them together myself. Reason why I'd have a shop install them on the original struts is bc I tried so hard and was unable to loosen the top strut nut.
Now my dillema, New struts with mounts on the lowering springs, or have the shop do the install.

New Struts are gonna run me about 200-210 with the hardware.

Shop Install on stock struts is 150-175.
If i get the new struts then I can always swap back to stock springs simple. But if I have them installed on the stock struts then I dont have to do any work and it will be a little cheaper.

Whats your input on this?
Any opinions help.
Thanks.

uhm...i really hope you had the spring compressed whenever you tried to loosen that top nut, if not...it not coming loose probably saved your life.

I wrap it in a blanket and use an impact gun on the top nut.
