good cheap air compressor suggestions

Post by sirricealot »

I'm looking for a cheap, possibly portable air compressor for my garage. I just want to be able to take bolts on and off without killing myself or breaking the bank.
I'll be doing my lowering springs soon and all i have is a cordless 18v dewalt impact, i dont think it will work that well.
So im kinda looking for a compressor that can power an impact wrench.
I wont be using it very much so cheaper the better, as long as it gets the job done.

thanks

Guess it depends on your opinion of cheap. Really cheap, check harbor freight.

Id consider mine inexpensive, and Ive had it for about 5 years with no problems. I bought mine at Farm & Home in Jerseyville, but im pretty sure the one in Alton has the same ones.

I have the cheap HF compressor that would be in your price range, and it is nothing compared to my 18v Bosch. You are most likely going to be throwing away money on a compressor unless you buy a mid grade one at the least.

I would try to stay away from an oil-less compressor. I had one and it was so loud.

I used my 18v "Mechanic's Choice" to take the bolts off my 97' CBR Rear Sprocket... Powered threw like a champ. You might be okay, just using yours. And hell I'd think the Dewalt would put down the power a little better than my Advanced Auto Parts special!

I say you Throw the D on dat bitch.

well i tried using the dewalt one on a bolt on the integra before and it wouldnt power it off. i even broke two ratchet 1/4 to 3/8 adapters and split a few sockets, so i went to get impact ready sockets and was able to get it off/loose by hand.
