They usually check the vin for lifetime alignments. I know this because I tried to use one for my legend on my other legend lol but it never hurts to try.

huh?

They didn't get your vin when you bought it? Well, I wouldn't think so since you don't have a lifetime alignment for that car and you are trying to use a lifetime alignment from another car for it.

They put your vin in their system when you buy a lifetime alignment for your car.

When you come in for a lifetime alignment they look at your vin on your car that you drove into their shop for the alignment.

If it doesn't match the one in the system, they don't give you the free alignment.

Does that make sense? The vin on your car, that you just bought, will not match the other 4. That is how they keep people from buying one lifetime alignment and using on their friends, brothers, childrens, grandchildrens cars.

They don't "ask" for it, the have a little hand scanner that they use to get it before they start any work on the car at all. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

I found long ago that you are cheaper in the long run by just paying for a regular alignment. Heck, my local place charges me $25 to adjust toe only (which is all you can adjust on a stock Civic anyway. LOL). They charged me $60 to adjust camber, caster, and toe front and rear. Alignment guy was not very happy about that one and he left some stuff loose to give me a "free ride" (offroad?) to show me what he thought.

No they don't. Techs write down the vin on the back of the work order and it depends on how lazy the service manager is whether or not it gets entered into the computer
