I will be getting a muffler for my cobalt soon and wondered if anyone had suggestions.
Im not looking to spend too much but I dont want some crappy muffler that will sound horrible or rust out. I have had good luck in the past with some ebay mufflers but im looking for an oval muffler with a round or slant cut tip. nothing bigger than a 3.5in tip, trying to keep it close to my stock tip on my cobalt.
not looking to do full exhaust, just a muffler. I may decide to have a swap setup installed, where there is flanges on the stock muffler, pipe on car, and the new muffler, to where i can swap back at any time.
Not sure if i'll do that or if ill have a muffler just welded on but like i said, looking for something that'll sound nice on my 2.4 cobalt.
I was looking into magnaflow but idk if i wanna spend that kinda money on just a muffler.
part of me wants to just get a cheapo ebay one but would like to see ppls suggestions. maybe from experience or from friends experience. kinda want something deep, not a straight through, bc i know those are ridiculous on a stock car.

Any help is appreciated :)!
pictures help also.

p.s. im looking to get a cheap air compressor that'll run an impact wrench also, I was thinking about getting the craftsman pancake compressor but im unsure. I would like something portable and affordable.
I'll be doing my lowering springs soon so I dont wanna have to wake up the next morning saying fml.

as far as cheaper mufflers that are good quality... go to ebay and look up OBX mufflers.... i have one on my integra and love it... great quality for the price... and great deep sound.... (depending on which style you get obviously)

Some of the cobalt guys seem to like the dynomax super turbo muffler its a cheap muffler but its also aluminized... But I had one on my old 2.3 mustang and it sounded pretty decent.

If you do a muffler I recommend getting the 2.5" over the axle pipe. I think OTTP sells them.

you can do that or just find a cheap used catback on ss.net.

My catback ran 400 shipped and its stainless but its probably more than you want to spend and its probably louder than youd like (SLP).

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps
