We are about to go into winter going from a under powered fwd cobalt to a vette is a bad idea this time of year. If I were you I would honestly keep the cobalt, an invest the extra money into a Roth IRA or look into mutual funds, maybe look into investment properties? If you still live with your parents look into buying your own place instead of a new car. Save up your money and buy a foreclosure for cheap. Is the cobalt paid off? If not pay it off before you buy another car no need to go into deeper debt and stress over something that you can't even buy parts for.

Just my 2 cents

You beat me to it!

O.P. You never answered if you live with your parents or own a house. If you do not own a house save your money for that unless you can afford to buy the Vett outright. If your wanting to move out of your parents house do not get yourself into a big car payment or you are going to get stuck there. Get settled into a house payment then buy the Vett.

Just my thoughts.

I don't know that you'll get bored with it, I just meant there is a chance. As everyone else is noticing, go for your dream car.

You could prolly find this model vette a lot cheaper and make it a project:

Is that a chevette lol. I'm talking corvette :-P. I do not have a house and I've been out of home for 3 years now. I like renting, a lot more predictable on costs. I actually like the place I'm at now, great shape, insulated well, 2 bedroom(second bedroom closet is storage then an almost empty room, and a garage. Neighbors are retired military and the area is safe. It's through a private owner so it's much easier to deal with ive realized. I'll prob be here at minimum 2 years. I had made the decision to look at getting a diff car versus a house.

I'd go for the vette, I've considered this option myself. (with a daily of course)

Why does everyone suggest a DD? I've been looking at low mileage C5's and I plan to get a warranty through my credit union.

I drive less than 7000 miles a year now.
I go out of town(300 miles round trip) maybe once a month, month and a half, and i live 3 miles from work. I tend to stay home and play games, and now that there is very little fast food in the town im at, i'll be eating in more often.
I see where a DD is always good if you have a project car but the vette isnt gonna be messed with much. maybe exhaust, hid's and some tint but thats about it.
where as project cars your always adding or removing something lol.

We all suggest DD because we have all been through having your DD being your project.

Here is my suggestion(in less detail than sharpie). Get your finances in order and build up a savings before you move on to any kind of project. You will hit bumps in the road and unexpected bills. Be ready for them before you start buying luxury items.

If you get a vette, what will be your DD? I wouldn't rely on a vette as a DD.

I think i confused a lot of people.
I told myself i will not be satisfied in my car unless I get my dream car. but i do want a project.
im leaning towards vette even more now but yes it will be my DD, and no it wont be a project.

If i get a vette, I plan to keep it for a long time, the only thing i'd really do to it would be flowmaster muffler system, HID's, and window tint.
I dont plan to do any major things to the car, hence not being a project.

I may end up getting a second car towards fall 2012 just to garage the vette for the snow/ice days. There is always a chance that my dad may decide to get a new car around that time also, which I already called dibs on buying his truck.

2003 F150 STX Flareside. pretty much extended cab V6 lightning lol.

At this point I just feel like breaking down and going with the vette. I've always wanted it, and now I can afford it. Not to mention the drive to work is shorter, much shorter.
Plus insurance is only $5 more a month for it.

You don't know what you're talking about. You're not very smart, and the things you're saying are nonsense. And I'm not angry. But you do need to shut up.
