ASE certification questions

Post by HardCore97 »

I've been looking at getting a job in the automotive field, but i havent worked for 2 years in the field, is it possible to get the certifications without 2 years? im looking for a job in this field and would like to move up to the st louis area, so if you know of any job openings i would appreciate it. i have applied at a few place already just trying to see whats out there, i would like something close to my current level of pay( i make 13/hour now but would like something with some decent potential) any suggestions or advice from any of you who have some certifcations would be great, im just trying to find a good enough job to support a wife and kids in the near future. thanks again for any help.

Edit: also would be interested in getting an MVI as well as alot of shops seem to look for that, looking up some info now but any info on getting that would be appreciated as well
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

As far as I know, there is no way to get ASE certification without the two-years experience as repair technician. You can still take the tests, but won't receive certification until you submit the work experience form.

This is correct... though Im sure it would still help your chances of getting the job if you had a few tests passed... and just needed work experience to recieve the certs...
