Ls/Vtec or B20/vtec I love em. IMO They can either be cheap thrown together ones that won't last but a couple months or a well built one with a pretty beefy bottom end that can take abuse for a while but too make power out of them you have to build the head and increase compression. Just remember depending on how much you spend in the right places will determine how much power and how long it last. Cheap, Fast, Reliable you can't have all three.

I'd say save the money and leave it LS if you're going to boost it. LS motors do great on boost. VTEC+boost really isn't necessary.

This guy claims 233 whp on 7 psi, doesn't show the numbers but 230+ is easily accomplished with an ls motor so I believe it.

i used the full race conversion kit. it comes with dowl pins and all the lines and plug for like 80 bucks the only difference between it and the golden eagle is the full race kit t's off your oil pressure sending unit instead of a filter sandwitch
turbo lag psh? boost is only a down shift away

a turbo isnt technically necessary either whether your vtec or not. some people choose to boost vtec some dont, its all an opinion, non vtec isnt necessarily better to boost than vtec
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

Oh yeah I'm not saying boosting a vtec head is a bad idea. I'm just saying if you have an LS motor and you want to go boost (like he said he was going to do in the future) you can just go ahead and boost the LS motor. I think it'd be a waste to spend the money on a vtec head thinking you need it for boost. But like sharpie said, building a non vtec head is kind of a waste as well.

I have Ls-vtec in my Ek coupe. B18b1 block, B16a3 head, gsr cams mated with a gsr tranny. It has all stock internals and was tuned on chrome. It pulls pretty hard and I like it.

But honestly if you want to turbo something and make alot of power buy yourself a Z6 and go with a vitara build. Theyre cheap and make a ton of power when boosted. But without the turbo itll run like a stock z6....

yeeeah, I was looking into that with my last hatch. But this one had an ls in it when I bought it, so I figured I'd stay b series.

@boosted_da: did the full race conversion kit work well? I heard someone talking on another forum about how their dowels werent the right size or didnt fit right(something of that nature)

thats fine for while its n/a, but wouldnt that increase the chances of detonation once its turbo'd?

If you're wanting to turbocharge it in the future, just leave it alone. You'll make plenty of power on a stock LS.
