Last night at UFC 129, former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida knocked out UFC Hall of Famer, former champion and action star Randy Couture using a crane kick. This kick ended Randy Couture's career as this was his last fight.
Where do you know the crane kick from, you ask?
“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” - Bruce Lee
"In the spring you will bloom like your heart through the glass in the back of the ambulance. You turn and you turn and you turn down the street, one more turn, won't you come back to me? And as it turns, the red lights, they were turning into red roses, red roses. Red roses. I'm not giving up." - Steps Ascending by Thursday
I wouldn't call that a "crane kick", it was a switch front kick and he was out cold, just like when Vitor Belfort lost to Anderson Silva recently hit him with a standing front kick to the face as well.
The Aldo fight was a let down to me. He was gassed way to early and you could tell he struggled with his weight cut this camp. He just didn't look like the same guy that fought in the WEC for the last 3 years.
I was also disappointed in the GSP fight. You could tell they were both hesitant in their striking and they both just looked very uncomfortable to be fighting each other. To me, this was his most boring fight when it was supposed to me his biggest challenge. I think he did enough to get the win, but I think the judges scoring was a little outlandish, especially the one that scored it 50-45 in favor of GSP.
