Hey guys just wanted to share this with those who don't follow me on FBTwitter. It''s just a shoot I did last fall. One of my favorites to date still although i have one in the works that will probably trump this one though. If any of you guys are into the local drift scene, Domi is the killer here.
here is the photo story
Here is my site if anybody cares to see more
Here is the description from my blog about the shoot.
This shoot is something I thought of a year ago but never got around to doing. Its basically supposed to be a hybrid fashion shoot/documentary shoot/short horror film. I’m kind of a movie geek and I pay attention to a lot of little things in movies regarding production and editing. I always watch the commentary and “the making of” when it’s available. That kind of stuff just inspires me. So this shoot is paying homage to the old slasher films like Halloween and early Friday the 13th movies as well as some lesser known films. In these early movies, you never saw the killer to the very end, and even then it was just momentarily. Or in the Halloween (1978), you never even saw any blood except for once or twice but it was scary as heck.
In this shoot, there are some subtle nods, and some not so subtle nods to this genre.
Things like the Killer lurking in the background watching. Seeing the photo shoot from the killer’s view point is also another nod to Halloween (1978).
There are also nods to some of the poorly produced films. It’s always really funny seeing the horrible continuity issues of some of the old movies. And my decision to include them here was inspired by those old films and more recently Black Dynamite (2009) which also included many intentional Goofs. In case you missed it, the killers weapon changes from a machete, to meat clever, and back to machete again. And the girl goes from heels to boots at some point as well lol. Oh and the killer is also ambidextrous apparently.
I worked very hard on this shoot. I even made a story board. Even though it may not be technically (photographically speaking) perfect, being able to bring my idea to reality is very satisfying to me.
I hope you all enjoyed looking at these as much as I did creating it.
