Work it out!!

Post by 99PreludeSh »

I know people are getting into the whole work out thing more and more each day. I have been working out for about a year and a half off and on and need more motivation. I figured we could have a thread dedicated to what everyone's work out consist of, diets, and progress each week. Maybe something as simple as a thread could give people more motivation to make themselves healthier? What do you think?

That sounds like a good idea. I work out 3 times a week but I need to go more. Alot of the people I used to work out with or do boxing with are all gone.

I ate like a pig this weekend and need to be more careful this week.

Work it out!!

I'm at dance 3-4 days a week so that's some exercise. I also do Zumba Thursday and Saturdays, sometimes Sundays. Other than that I try and get to the gym but it doesn't work out a lot. My biggest problem is eating later at night when I get home from work. I eat dinner around 5 then when I get home from dance at 11 I'm hungry again :(

I like this idea. I've been in a slump for a while now and it's time to get in shape (for the first time since I was 10 years old. Lol)

I have P90x and I'm setting everything up as we speak to start doing the program.

My goal isn't to built a lot of muscle and bulk up. I'm wanting to get down to about 180-190 lbs and achieve a body fat level of around or below 12%.

I worked out for a while when I was in Cleveland and got down from 235 to 200 lbs but that was 2 years ago right before I wrecked my bike. After the accident I couldn't work out for a while and completely lost my pace. When I finally got back into it my job up there finished and I moved back home where I didn't have a gym membership or any friends to work out with.

I fell back into my old eating habits and since I was in a dry spell for work I wasn't active at all.

As of new years I was back up to a personal high (and low) of 265 lbs. My resolution was to get into a good diet and achieve the goals I mentioned above (And to quit smoking) I've cut out fast food completely and with that alone I've dropped down to 255 lbs. Since I'm still out of work I've decided it's time to get active again and start my workout.

Right now I have a weighted training vest with weights up to 40 lbs and I intend to start going for a walk/jog every day (a couple of miles) in addition to doing my P90x workout. I figure the walk/jog will give me some extra cardio to help burn fat and the workouts will take care of muscle building/increasing my metabolism.

I also found a scale on Walmart's website that has a built in body fat scanner so that combined with all my other recording equipment (pedometer, heart rate monitor, etc) will help me keep detailed statistics on my progress. That, and I plan on taking pictures of my progress every single day. (That one's gonna be rough)

For me, the hardest part will be finding a diet I can stick to that has enough variety in it. The nutrition plan in P90x is really good. It has recipes but it also divides out your needs into sections and portions so you can substitute items here and there as long as you stick to the prescribed portions of each section.

If anyone is interested in a copy of the P90x literature and DVDs feel free to PM me. I'd be glad to help out.

I will personally try to post my progress at least once a week and I hope everyone else will do the same.

One of the hardest things about working out (particularly if you're working out alone) is staying accountable to sticking with the workout. I think that's why I've failed in the past. I'm hoping that by posting progress on here I'll have you guys expecting it so I'll have to keep going, or face ridicule if I don't... It's a good thing...

Wow... This reply got BIG! Haha.

I think we should really keep this thread going guys and girls. Keep motivated.

Let's fuckin DO THIS!

when your snacking late at night, just make sure its not chips ( i mean i ca'nt follow my own advice) but some veggies are dam good raw.. Bell peppers... like apples but.. not. its simples things that can help too though, don't always have to go to the gym or get workout dvd's. Sitting less, or stairs instead of elevators, even as simple as parking at the far end of the lot and walking farther to the door. btw p90x works!! granted i only did it for 2 weeks but i saw a pretty decent change, not to mention "no pain no gain" and i was tore up every day after that stuff so thats how i know it was working. insanity on the other hand.. not too impressed.

sittin at ~170lbs and and im good with that. maybe shoot for 160 and basically just lean out.. Fat into muscle is all. cant wait til it warms up out so i can start running again

^^^^^ +1

It's best to try to avoid eating a few hours before you go to sleep because while you're sleeping your body will take any leftover carbs in your system (that would have been used to give you energy while you're awake) and stores them as fat. So always think of it like this; pretty much anything you eat before bed will turn to fat.

If you must munch on something, raw veggies are definitely your best bet.

Congratulations on the big loss so far. P90x is the best work out program out there. I did it last year and saw HUGE changes. If you follow it strictly, eat well (eating well is actually the most important aspect), and push yourself hard in the work outs you will not be disappointed.

I think the hardest thing is getting into a routine and keeping the routine up. It sucks the first few days, and if you skip ONE day it can all go out the window because then it's hard to get back in. Eventually though you'll crave working out.

Like I said, diet is the most important part. You can kill yourself everyday in the gym but if you eat like crap all your work will be for nothing. I buy either Marathon, Clif, Myoplex, or Kashi Go Lean bars since I can't always get to a healthy meal with work, class, and whatever else. Lots of protine, but the Marathon and Clif bars have a lot sodium so if you're wanting to stay away fro salt I suggest the other two.

I work out 3-5 times a week focusing on lifting and cardio. Lifting is nice, but it won't help you feel much better walking up a big flight of stairs haha.

Currently I'm at 185 and am 5'10". I'm shooting for 195 by the end of this semester...T.J. Oshie like haha.

Oh, and K'netic...just know that you will most likely hate the first week of p90x and will want to quit. I promise by week 3 it will be drastically easier and you will already be feeling 100x's healthier as long as you've been eating well and pushing yourself in the workouts. Make sure you write your stuff down too. It was awesome to see how many more of a certain exercise I could do after only a couple weeks of the program. After 3 weeks of p90x I gained 20lbs in my bench press max. The program is legit. Best of luck man.
