You can tell what parts a engine has internally just by driving it? Man you're fucking talented. So let me get this right you think he should just drive and not make sure it has all the parts that he was told? I mean we are in the Honda community and no one is shady and no one has ever lied about what is done to a car before selling it. Sorry for trying to help someone out when I have almost the exact same setup in my car and can give him a little insight on what to look for before buying a highly modded track car. Maybe if it was just a hard Parker he could drive it and see if it's what it is but it's not. On a test drive you're not gonna know the difference between pro1 or pro2 cams. You're not gonna know what head or rod bolts it has but a month after he has it and a rod bolt snaps cause it's oem and he he fucks up everything and has nothing just because he didn't check to see what was actually there. Or because it's got oem valvetrain in it and drops a valve. Yeah just driving it and not going over it with a fine toothed comb sounds like a great idea. Stop always trying to pick an e-fight and think about shit before you type it. I'm sure you're a good guy in person from what ben says and you have a really nice car but for real he needs to actually make sure it's all there.

I do agree it will be pretty hard to tell the difference between a stock internal short block and a sleeved, rodded, and piston'd block. We all know that power is made in the top end of the engine and the bottom end is just an insurance policy. I could put some stock rods, some Ebay ITR rep pistons, and ACL bearings in a stock B20 block and it will feel strong as hell if I have a good top end on it.

I do still stand by my suggestion of really seeing what is in the car. Stock block VS built/sleeved block is about $3,000 in parts difference; that is a pretty good chunk of change to just assume it's there.

Yes, I do agree on the who gives a shit what everyone else thinks he should do. It's your car you are trading, not ours. Get what you want.

you are right, he needs your expert advice in how to look directly at the outside of a motor and have a guy tell him whats in it, i think he should take a tool box with him and take the entire fucking enging apart to visually check whats inside the motor , thats the ONLY way of knowing exactly whats in it, that atleast makes more since opposed to listening to a guy and looking at a pile of reciepts and be like " uh errrrr well yeah i guess it is what he says it is, i mean i have no way of knowing but he says so and has pieces of paper for parts that could be anywhere, but he says so ".

"sharpie"..You can tell what parts a engine has internally just by driving it? Man you're fucking talented. So let me get this right you think he should just drive and not make sure it has all the parts that he was told?

"WWFH" exactly how is he gunna "make sure" those internals are in the car from looking at the outside of the engine? you must fucking have xray vision.

im no STL tuner but you would be correct that i guess unlike you i am intellegent enough to tell the difference in a eg hatch with a stock B-series 160ish hp range and 250 hp. and like ryan-a said yeah i guess you could put a pile of bullshit parts in a motor and make 250 hp and then it shit on ya later pull it apart and be like "well fuck i got screwed, next time if i want a car like that i should build it instead of buying it from someone else".

you are right about bieng careful buying shitty rigged up hondas, shady honda people out there for real.

and you read some e-thuggary in my post??? you are a fvcking idiot!! you cast the first stone with the name calling and i now retalliate and stoop to your level.

all i did was give my 2cents "because its on the interenet and if you dont want to hear someones opinion then dont get and or post any give me your advice threads on the internet". my outlook on the situation is it must be a pile because who in their right mind would trade a well bolted together honda with 15k in reciepts for a stock dodge neon srt4. cmon

Actually, I DO have XRay vision when it comes to engines. It's called a boroscope. I drove 4 hours each way one night to buy a supposed sleeved, rodded, piston'd engine. Drained the oil and pulled a spark plug. I then had a great spot to put the boroscope and SEE with my own eyes what was in there. I looked inside this engine and saw stock pistons and rods. Could also see the bottom of the cylinders and could clearly see it was not sleeved. Saved me a good chunk of money.

It really sucks that this is what it's come to. 10 years ago, you could almost believe what you heard come out of someone's mouth. Now, since I live in Missouri, I say show me.

At this point, I am most likely going to trade for it. I mean is there any real way to tell what is in the motor aside from taking it apart. I will be heading up this weekend to get the car hopefully.

He says he has reciepts, which may mean nothing. Has pics of him building the motor, says it was built at Profunction in Chicago. Anymore advice is highly welcome. And thanks for the advice already, its helped.

dayum!!! yeah the honda scene has def become a shady scene for sure. for lack of better words i guess what i was trying to get at was to keep an open mind until getting to see the car, all the evidence, and drive the car to actually see what its like. you can only get so much knowledge prior to seeing the car, i guess it may have came across jackassy but it wasnt entended.

Wwfh when did I call you a name? Never ok now that that's settled. I had him pm so I could tell him some things to look for pretty much like RyanA said actually get a look at the inside of the engine. And I never said compare 160hp to 250hp. I said what about the cams being different and the rod/head bolts not being after market and able to handle the setup setup. Shit like that.

People are shady. Maybe this guy is legit but who knows he could be out to get rid of a ticking time bomb to some sucker.

Maybe reread what you posted earlier and look at it from some people's view point and see how you'd take it if you were them.

The way that i read it was a bit of an attack to a few members on here. You know the old, "shoot first, apologize later" but that's how i read it earlier and I'm not here to point fingers, but damn, this turned into a shit storm it seems.
