Washed my carpet - now car stinks . . .

Post by Edison Carasio »

So I washed the carpet this weekend in my Accord, and when I opened it this morning to check something it smelled like it had been rained in. :( It smelled fine yesterday as I left the windows cracked but rolled em up last night before going to bed. I felt dry when I put it back in. Do you guys think I'm gonna have to yank it back out and ditch the sound deadening or what?

I guess I'll yank it outta the car and wash it again. =/ This time I'll let it sit out for like two days and leave the windows in the car down to air out.

Make sure to use Lysol on the underneath side incase of mold it will prevent any. Also if you have a place to hang it that also helps alot and make sure to hang it carpet side down so the underneath is totallly dry.

Definitely was not dry all the way. When I did that to my carpet in an Integra I had, I let it sit out for a week maybe a bit more, just to make sure. Plus it has gotten hotter the past 2days, which did not help out the smell any for sure.

Fudge. I wanted to go to the gym after work tonight, but should I do this instead? I don't want the moisture to rust my floor or anything. :(

I took it out and sprayed the floor pan with some Tilex and wiped it down. The carpet wasn't wet or stinky but the sound deadening was. I'll get some anti-microbial from the hardware store tomorrow on lunch at work.
