:biglaugh: just happy not seeing my car on that list
2008 Chevy Slobalt
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps
Yes I own 2 slow red chick cars & 1 real car!

But the breaks and steering still work. Have you ever tried to stop a car with manual breaks? Its not that hard. Hell I have driven cars with 4 wheel manual drums. Still had no issues stopping.00siandrew;228587 wrote:No big shocker to see so much GM and Chrysler on the list. Don't forget, those people are not capable of running a company without being bailed out.
As far as Toyota, no way do they belong on the list. Every car company makes mistakes, and Toyota still builds some of the best cars. And as far as the people being idiots that died, I would disagree. In a vehicle that has a stuck accelerator at WOT you don't have as many options as you'd think. Turn the car off, goodbye power breaks and steering. Trying to put it in nuetral then hitting the brakes won't do too much either. Go put your car at WOT then try to brake. See how much vaccuum you can build.

I would have to disagree with you on that. I HAVE driven a car that got a stuck accelerator. I just turned the engine off and hit the brake to stop. With the engine off, you still have at least 2 good EASY pushes on the pedal before you have to put some effort into it. As long as the moron driving doesn't take the key out so the steering wheel doesn't lock up, it's very easy to stop a car with an issue. The people that get hurt are the ones that panic and don't know what to do in that sort of situation. Maybe driver's ed helped me know what to do, maybe not. But at least I was smart enough to shut the engine off and come to a stop. BTW, this happened in my '92 Plymouth Sundance. People nowadays think that everything is controlled by the cars computer and when the power is cut, everything goes. On top of that, there is one safety feature that is on ALL CARS and everyone knows about it by name. Care to guess what it is? Thats right. The EMERGENCY BRAKE.00siandrew;228587 wrote:As far as Toyota, no way do they belong on the list. Every car company makes mistakes, and Toyota still builds some of the best cars. every accident that occured with toyota could have been avoided if they had only turned the car off or at the least...put it in neutral. i dont disagree with GM being on the list but its a bit wierd that they would put both the Canyon and Colorado on the list seeing as they are the exact same vehicle with different Front Clip.

Well, if one sucks and is on the list, why not the other? You did say it's the same except for the front clip.RBs93;228603 wrote:every accident that occured with toyota could have been avoided if they had only turned the car off or at the least...put it in neutral. i dont disagree with GM being on the list but its a bit wierd that they would put both the Canyon and Colorado on the list seeing as they are the exact same vehicle with different Front Clip.

I'm not sure what they tried.Edison Carasio;228590 wrote:It's better to try SOMETHING than try NOTHING at all. =/ But otherwise I agree with 00siandrew
Someone could ask them, if they were still alive.

i was under the impression that the toyotas where all drive by wire. and that the shifter was as well. so if there was a problem with the drive by wire system. putting it in neutral might not switch the change the gear. and i thought the priuses where push to start, meaning it could of stayed on if you tried to turn it off.

I believe there still is a key that you turn to the On position. Not 100% sure though.tcr03;228618 wrote:i was under the impression that the toyotas where all drive by wire. and that the shifter was as well. so if there was a problem with the drive by wire system. putting it in neutral might not switch the change the gear. and i thought the priuses where push to start, meaning it could of stayed on if you tried to turn it off.
