To me the Civic is supposed to be a bare bones economy car that I will get crushed in if I hit anything bigger than another Civic. Back in the day Honda built oversized go-karts. That's what I want out of a Civic and I don't get that feeling while driving the new ones. I bet the next Si gets at least an extra 106lbs to tip it's fat ass over 3000.budget_crx;224173 wrote:This had me rolling, I love Civics as much as the next guy, but seriously wtf does this mean? Is there anything a Civic needs to have to be considered "worthy" of the name? Beyond inexpensive and reliable, I don't think so.
Also, this is an opinion that I don't expect everybody to agree with so suck it.:PDT_Armataz_01_25:

I agree. The newer Civics are not what they once were. Light, nimble, fuel efficient cars that would last forever. The new ones are bland, heavy and dead. The only thing that makes them different from a Corolla, or Maxima etc is that it has an H on it. The 2010 Si is like what, 190 hp? Compare that to its 2895 lb curb weight. And it's not like it's inexpensive. A Si starts at damn near $23,000 before taxes, title, license, etc.dclduke;224257 wrote:To me the Civic is supposed to be a bare bones economy car that I will get crushed in if I hit anything bigger than another Civic. But alas, that is the current market. No one wants quick, light, nimble cars. They want oversized family sedans that weigh as much as an elephant.
But that's not to say that if someone gave me one, I would turn it down.

Or... maybe that the Firt has replaced the spot of the Civic, and the Civic is gradually taking the spot of the Accord and so on and so forth...
I think I prove a decent point considering that the new Fits are light, underpowered, fun to drive, and the newer Civic coupes and four doors are getting more along the size of the '97 style Accord in the power and size area...

I own a Fit, and I think it is the closest thing to an EG or EF Civic. Now if Honda had some balls and had released a Si or Type R version with a K20 under the hood . . . but alas they would never cannibalise sales away from the Civic Si.

Exactly. A K20 Fir would be great... the only thing I seen so far was the Mugen supercharged version of the Fit.Edison Carasio;224264 wrote:I own a Fit, and I think it is the closest thing to an EG or EF Civic. ZOMG WTF NEWSFLASH: Cars are getting heavier, safer and more expensive. In case you haven't noticed there are agencies that have manufacturers squeezed by the nutsack; forcing engineers to stuff new cars with a bunch of crap that enthusiasts don't want. To say that people no longer want light nimble cars is a stupid statement, people still want it, yet it is so much more difficult to obtain. The weight comes with the restrictions, despite this Honda is still keeping the Civic along the same roots it always has.
