How did you end up with your car?

Post by Martin »

06 Jeep got because my previous Jeep was 15 years old and rusting out.
97 Integra got because I wanted something easier on gas yet still fun to drive. Looked at a 240 first and it was auto, I was looking for a stick, saw the Acura gave it a shot and liked it so I got it.

90 Civic Hatch: Traded a PS2 with 20 games and guitar hero for it. (not running)
94 MX6: Sold the hatch and some stuff on ebay. Bought it from my buddy for $1200
90 Civic Hatch (Same one): Bought it from spork for $4500 after he did a LOT of work to it
09 Ruckus: I happened to come across totalruckus, honda-tech and a couple other ruckus oriented sites one week before my income taxes came in (perfect timing) and I picked it up the day my taxes came in. Rode it home in 36 degree weather in the rain 20mph the whole way.
95 Tahoe: Traded my hatch for it.
97 Civic: My girlfriend needed a car and I missed my 90 hatch. I saw this hatch sitting on the side of a main road where I live for sale. I told my gf's mom about it but she wouldn't get it for her because it was a 5 speed and she thought her first car should be an auto. After seeing it every day for a month and finding out the guy only wanted $2k for it I took out a loan and picked it up the next day. We've both been driving it until she gets herself a car. (looking for an auto ek hatch)

2008 Honda Fit: In 2004 I bought a used 96 Geo Prizm and drove it for about 4 years (paid it off in 2) and then it started having all kinds of trouble week in and week out. Brakes, tires, head gasket, ball joints etc etc. I didn't know anything about cars so I couldn't do much myself. I figured for the price of fixing it all the time I could buy a new car so. I had seen Fits in magazines and stuff and thought they were pretty bitchin'. Went and got my loan from the bank, went to dealer and bought it. Wish I had known how to drive a 5 speed at the time cuz I wish I didn't have the automatic. I regret buying it now cuz I'm locked into it. I was living at home at the time but last year my mom passed away and now I'm on my own and can't really afford it.

1989 Honda Accord LX: I had some "freinds" who were totally poor and broke and the chick was knocked up and they were huge pot heads. Since they were so broke the chick and her boyfreind were moving back to her parents house in Alabama and the car was in awful shape. No exhaust from cat back, no brakes at all, bad upper control arm and half shaft, and it needs a clutch. It was disgusting inside with ashes and cigs and stuff. I gave em $100 for it as an act of charity. I've gotten in ok running shape. Still needs the half shaft and clutch but it runs without much safety issues now. I only took it because I really wanted a Honda and a five speed and the money I gave them I actually won in a contest so it wasn't a big deal.

1996 honda civc dx:
well my grandma bought this car in 97 off the lot at hueys honda she drove it everywhere up until 04 where she developed a condition where the nerve endings in her feet died thus she couldnt feel her feet so she could not drive. so the car went to storage. she ended up passing away in march of 07 she willed the car to me but my aunts and my mom argued over her "sanity" at the time of me being willed the car so i finally got the car after 3 months of legal bullshit. once i got it i started into fixing the brutal mess leaving it in storage uncared for for 4 years brought. so today its getting closer to where i want it a new swap and new suspension and itll be perfect.

Well, I decided that I no longer wanted my old JDM 6spd silvertop 4age 20v 1988 MR2 because it was becoming somewhat of a pain to drive daily because its size was...well, MR2'ish, no interior and no trunk to speak of really. It was VERY loud but fun to drive and I wanted desperately to get back into DSM's because they're so much fun.

Came across a bone stock 1990 plymouth laser RS-T (same thing as an eclipse turbo) for $800, with 120k on the clock with a damn clean interior and a very clean engine bay. Went to go test drive it and I loved it, ran perfectly and was sound.

So I sold the MR2, went the same day to pick up the DSM and haven't really looked back.

when i turned 16 my parents changed their minds about giving me the 96 Odyssey. and told me to find a car. i really wanted a camaro or a s-10 with a 4.3 v6 so i could procharge it eventually. my dad told me that i couldnt get anything bigger than a 4cyl. so i settled for a honda. i found my 95 integra Ls at auto plaza ford in maplewood. and paid 4500 for it. waaaayyyyyy overpriced!!! and now im happy that i went with this car.
the individuality of your car is frowned upon... welcome to the honda community

88 Taurus, first car only had it for 18 mths traded it in for my..

96 Accord, which of course I riced out because it was Fast N Furious movie time, after 3 and a half yrs I got my...

98 Accord V6 which I only owned for 15 mths and in that time had 3 transmissions, alternator, and a right front suspension replaced all under warranty, car was a POS which is weird for a Honda but apparently they had tranny probs from 98-02 on V6 only Accords, TL's, and CL's. My warranty was almost up so I traded it for my...

03 black Accord Couple 4 cyl 5 spd, to this day I miss this car I lowered it on Tein H Tech springs, tinted the windows, added a AEM CAI, short shifter, and a set of bronze Konig Next 17's. I had this car for a little over 3 yrs as well and then ran into a deal that I couldn't pass up..

I got my 03 Honda S2000, a car that I had wanted since the first time I saw it in the summer of 99 when I graduated hs. I still to this day have the pamphlet hanging in my garage that folds out into a poster of a Silverstone S2000. That day I said one day I was going to own one and on my 26th birthday my dream came true.

Now I DD my 88 Camry that I have grown quite attached to even though it looks like crap. This car only has 129k on it and runs like a champion, I have owned it for over 2 yrs and only done maintenance, I also got it for a steal....$400 bucks. The Camry has allowed my S2000 to go 4 miles in the past 3 mths and has become quite the garage queen. Cmon spring!

My wife has a 07 CR-V that we bought brand new, and no one else touched it before us. I like it but it has no balls, you push the pedal down and you don't go anywhere but it is good for her because her knows how to get speeding tickets...even in the damn CR-V try 96 in a 60.......oh well now that we have a daughter she has slowed down and isn't as scary to ride with.

These are my cars thanks for reading and good idea for the thread!
Robert
