or maybe just dont talk to her for a couple days, tell her that you realize something is wrong and you want to give her time to think things over with no interference from you...

And maybe I am just showing my age, but does anyone else find it funny that a relationship can be judged on some level by the amount of text messages you receive?

'I realize something is wrong and I want to give you time to think things over with no interference from me' is LAME. what better way is there to show her that you want to control her than by telling her that you are going to allow her to think about something on her own? You give her space if she ASKS for space, otherwise it is reasonable to expect that she can communicate her problem to you, with words, like the big boys and girls do.

If she wants to break up, she can do it. If you are really unhappy and want out then you can do it too, but don't just dump her because you thought she might be thinking about dumping you.

mostly a good point, especially the giving her time to think up bullshit part. I just oppose the idea of breaking up with her because you are scared of her doing it first.

I laughed and weeped a little too. I think this post, both halves, was my favorite in the thread.

but seriously? 'i haven't heard from her in almost 6 hours, should I call her and get the break up over with?' Maybe this kind of obsessive clingy smothering behavior is something that turns her off? If i got that emo about every 6 hour stretch that something like that happened, I would have sliced my entire hands off at the wrists by now. but guess what?..... sometimes...... I actually kinda like not having to watch my phone for calls/messages.
