I got my orders today.

Post by ATL »

Little recap:
I signed up and sworn in a couple of months ago for the U.S.A.F.

I scored an 85 on my ASVAB. Having scored so I high I was given a nice job selection.

I ended up getting ASF 2A332: F-16 Avionic Systems
-This was my second choice on my list so I was pretty excited. I have the possibility to become part of the Thunder Bird Team which is a huge deal on your resume and something not too many people get to be apart of.

Ok so I finally got my orders today.

I leave for Basic Training on October 6th. Which will be nice weather for me(avg is in the 70's)
-I graduate Basic on December 4th

From there I go to Kiessler Air Force Base for my first part of Tech School.

I then come home on December 23 for xmas brake.

I am getting married on Janruary 1st 2010.

I then go back to Kiessler for a couple of weeks and then transfer to Shepard Air Force Base to finish my training.

I also signed up for Recruiter Assistance so i will be back for 12 days after Tech School.

Because of previous schooling, I go to basic with E2 pay and then get E3 pay grade a few weeks into Tech School.

So anyways, things are finally going good for me. :happyguns

high five man. my older brother is an MP in the AF and actually just left iraq earlier this week. One thing i have learned about the AF is that sometimes they change their minds. A good friend of mine is in SERE (i think thats the abbv.) training in washington right now, but they told him he would have a month off before shipping up there, he left 4 days after basic.

Also, my car will be back up and running in the next week. I'll be looking to get it tuned ASAP so I can enjoy it before I leave. I will be wanting to run some fellow Hondas too.

omg. getting married before going to the AF is the biggest fail of all times.

sheppard is epic.
kinda. STDs stay at that base.

and keep your chin up at basic training. dont try killing your self with ur underwear like one guy in my flight.

lol, yes. stressful. very.

My training instructor threw my bed and locker across the dorm becuz my t-shirt was folded 6 1/4 inches when it suppose to be 6 inches.

Congrats. i should be back from Iraq in Dec-Jan time frame...going to be putting in my package to be a T.I. when i get back. My only advice is, listen to what they say. do what they say. and with a quickness. and even if you do all that, you will still be yelled at. lol

Congrats Andy.

Not going to lie, I'm still kicking around the idea of joining the U.S.A.F.

troof.. you could be flawless and do everything 100% perfect, and youll still have a T.I. in your face. There job is to break you down mentally. They dont look at you like a person. When T.I.s are trainging to be T.I.s they practice by yelling at trees.

So dont cry when a instructor in your face, screaming his head off at you. Its his job. just zone it out.

My dad was in also, thats what he tought me. I remember my first day when this dood was screaming his head off at me. im thinking fuck dood your pissed for no reason. lol so it was kinda entertaining to see TI's flip the fuck out for nothing.

it's not a bad gig Josh, to be honest the way the economy and everything is out there the military lets you live comfortably...and it isn't permanent if you want to do 4-6 years and get out. cool, you don't have to stay. but the perks for being a vet. when you get out are there too. College gets paid for while you're in so you can take classes while you're in, and you get paid and free training for a trade or whatever job you go for, for free. For me, it's being a mechanic. i learned far more than i thought i would, and there's always advanced classes to go to, to further understand and perform other aspecs of the job. for instince we now do body work, so there's welding classes and such that i get to go to. On top of all that, my pay isn't that bad either. I have been in for almost 4 years now and i'm getting about 2,200 every 2 weeks...minus bills and everything, i'm pocketing about 2500 per month. Just something to think about, it's not all that bad.
