I can clear up the info on the ABS for the 6th gen. Only the auto Ex's had the available ABS. Not the Si or the manual Ex or any other trim below that.

94+ integras would be much easier to hunt down in ABS trim......

Hmm ... perhaps we need to move to 7th gen ... the wife informed me also HAS to have ABS (wait til you get married, you'll learn the art of the "strategic retreat")

Integra would be nice, but not as robust of a supply, and I want my kids to "start low" so can better appreciate stepping up

troof, and they have two air bags. If it being a stick or not doesn't matter, you can find a 4-door (cheaper insurance) integra GS\LS\special edition pretty cheap I would guess around 5k give or take

Damn...I wish my folks would've let me have an Si at 16. I got stuck with an Escort. I found out from experience though that Civics (I had a 6th gen) hold up pretty well in collisions.
Ribs. I had ribs for lunch, that's why I'm doing this.

I got my 99 auto GS for 3500 and its got every option you can get other than the b18c of course. If you go with a gs/ls/rs integra thats going to be about the same price as a civic I would think. Also there are a ton of aftermarket options still available for integras and also lots of used parts still out there. You will want to stay away from rs's bc they don't have abs. but the gs and ls have everything you are looking for.

If you want to be able to step them up try and find a G2 (90-93) Integra with ABS then they can always move up to a G3 or G4. If you look in the right places you can pic one up fairly Cheap.

my teg is pretty bottom of the line... i got mine for 5k in 2006. its a 95 Ls with steelies and almost no options. it has ABS and driver/passenger airbags. great platform to start with though. plus if you want them to "step up" you can loo at it as a step up to vtec... Ls's dont have vtec, infact only the GSR and the ITR have vtec (atleast out of the ones made in America). so they would be going from a base model engine to a vtec engine that is faster (obviously)
