they will total the car..

you cant force the Ins company to fix it. if they say that the damage is more costly vs the cars value.. then call it gone.

you can request to have the car back. and use the money they give you to fix it..

but id move on.

So, if it did get totaled and they paid out 7000, max buyback would probably be 1400 or so. You just need to clarify that you are going to keep your car no matter what; if that's a problem, you can get your lawyer involved and then the fun can really start. If they were drunk, they need the damn book thrown at them. If they have no insurance, you can have their license revoked and you can pretty much own their ass.

Can you tell I hate drunks? I was hit head on by one on the highway in Nebraska. 1965 Chevy pickup VS 1989 1LE Camaro at highway speed. Guess who won?

+1. this is why lawyers are helpful. here's what he (the person who hit you) can face:

Sentences can range from a suspended license and fines to serious jail time. In addition, those convicted of a hit and run may lose their vehicle.

I'm not sure how Missouri is, but he can get anything from a traffic ticket to what was stated above.

Most people who do a hit and run are usually up to no good. Warrants, felons, drunk, drugs, the list can go on and on.

good luck with your case.

but if he does decide to buy it back, he can always part it out and/or transfer some stuff over to a different chassis. :dunno:

This is what I mentioned to him. It sucks to see such a rare car go to waste. '00 GSR's with 68k and an OEM kit are not something you find everyday.

Yeah most people do this, expecially on cars that are rear ended lots to part out. If mine got rear ended I would buy it back in a second just bc the front ends of 98-01's bring good money, plus the b series is a pretty popular motor.

my only problem with letting it total and buying it back is first. the cash. i blew most if not all of it getting this car. secondly. its a loan, so any cash i get back would have to be used to pay that off, and 75% of what the NADA lists it as, would be less than what i financed for. so. its a lot of work and time for me to take care of that, plus find a new car and finance the new vehicle. any holes in my logic or brilliant points im missing?

say i were to buy it back with part of the insurance check. how much could i get off parting it out? the engine only has 60k on it..

if you get 7k then buy back the car and part it out. then you will make a shit tone of money. keep te motor put it into a civic with some go fast parts. and thats how you cure the problem. shit tyler i still dont think they will total it out. also if it gets fixed by a shop that will show on the carfax report. that the shop has taken care of all the damage and it is replaced to spec. o all the info for the guy should be in the police report.... got to the police station and get the paper work.
You can talk shit all you want! eventually noone will care about your input. :yo:
