I don't remember the exact statistic but I believe only about 8% of the people in the Airforce are actually pilots.

Since you are joining the Airforce the chances of you not going to the Middle East are pretty good. My brother has been in the Army for about 2 years now and absolutely loves it. My hat goes off to anyone that is serving or is going to serve our great country. With the amount of the GI bill and the fact that since you are still pretty young and you can retire after 20 years of service, I think it is a good decision.

obama's plan to get everyone out of iraq is to send like 30k more over. but you being in the air force makes your chances pretty good for not going over there.
Never bring show to a go fight

Im a loser

i went to the USAF 3 days after graudation. i just got out in 2006.

I had a blast. my first few years. party, women, good pay, party, woman, woman and partying... modded the shit outta my EM1 at the time. living the single life. etc etc etc.

and then torwards the end the AF years, it started getting extremly strict and gay with rules. im sure its gayer than ever now.

do not. i repeat do not. get married. its a fuckin huge trend to get married to ur gf you met 2 or 3 months ago. serious as shit. i know of over 20 people who've married some random bar hoe. literally 20. seriously.

anyways AF is half cool and half not. if you can put up with major bullshit than youll be alright. but i always hard time dealing with assholes who wnated to be assholes jus becuz they had one more stripe than you.

thats why im self employed now.

BUT i could go on and on about boot camp stories, iraq stories, running trains on army women, on duty fist fights.. many many stories. thinkin back on it good times. but just not for me.

good luck man.

edit: oh yeah! lol many kids get outta boot camp and tech school and that are reaal gun ho, dedicated to the AF. they then proceed to get AF tattoos with all their boot camp/tech school buddies. 2 yrs later when realizing how ghheey the AF. you get made fun of about it every single day.

My Father was with the Air Force something like 12 years, loved it and misses it. Still keeps in touch with his friends, and he's 82

Made him a good Dad in my mind ... we always knew what was expected of us and had high standards

Good luck to you

My fiancee's family was an Air Force family. They had great times traveling the world, living in random places. Everywhere from Turkey, Germany, Montreal and a couple places in the states.

My future father-in-law is retired but is still working for them as a civilian. The AF payed for him to get 3 graduate degrees while he was in. If you can, take advantage of all the opportunities they give you. You can travel the world and get educated on someone else's dime.
