LA Kings, Oilers, Canadiens are all right up there with the best prospects too, prospects are prospects, you can't assume that these players will be NHL regulars or that they'll even be with the team 5 yrs from now.....shit look at the red wings, zetterberg and datsyuk weren't even drafted in the 1st 5 rounds, yet they became probably the 2 most complete players in the league then you can look at some players that were drafted high and never came to fruition, Blues have had many, Jeff Taffe in 00 (1st rd pick), Shawn Belle (can't remember what yr but he was a 1st rounder), a bunch of 2nd rounders that never panned out, a classic example is Alexandre Daigle who was supposed to be the "next one" when Ottawa drafted him, he was decent but nothing special, he's not even in the league anymore, look at Steve Stamkos last year's No 1 pick, everybody thought he was going to tear up the league, he's been mediocre, he's getting better with experience but he's still a question mark as to whether or not he will be a top player.....all I'm saying is that you can't base the future of a team on prospects, it's always going to be a mixture of prospects and free agents. Sometimes you have to move some prospects in order to get that one gem of a player and the Blues have always failed to do that by giving away a prospect that turned out to be the gem and getting a worthless player who is past his prime or by not evaluating talent correctly and in some cases trading away a key player and getting worthless prospects in return.
I went to the game last night against the Sharks, good game, Blues played well, but there were a lot of missed opportunities by the Sharks on bad Blues turnovers/penalties, Mason looked solid again

Give if a few more seasons, we'll get good draft pics and our rookies will only increase in skill. We'll be a contender in a few seasons times, we'll be back to our old days before the lock out.

Well steven stamkos is playing 3rd line...and has been coming on very strong here in the last month or 2....give me one bad draft pick the blues have made in the past 4 years though? Perron looks good, oshie looks good, ej looks good, berglund looks good, polak has surpassed expectations by a far shot, pietrangelo in his 10 game preview looked suprisingly good for a 18 year old...
No reason to make excuses for the sharks...the blues have competed with them all year....
real question comes tomorrow...we beat the red wings... we have a legitimate shot then...a fully healthy kariya, ej, brewer, add in pie, sonne, mcrae, and whoever else via free agency and hopefully they can ship out mckee/brewer or both... maybe junland will be ready next year(would think so, is tearing up the ahl)... give it 2 years this team makes a legit run at the cup...hopefully we can pry cory schneider from vancouver once luongo resigns this summer(no way they let go of the best and their captain)..
As for zetts and daty your always gonna have that team that gets lucky and gets that star player.....steve mason....kaberle...kippy....just to start the list..
Hoping we can trade up for msp this draft... hopefully....kid looks amazing..

It doesn't matter either way. Until the Blues can compete with Detroit reaching the play offs is pointless. We might as well not even be there. We get spanked every time we play them, there is no way in hell we could beat them 4 times in 7 games. Detroit is going to win again this, I'm about to quit watching hockey for the year.

ya they looked awful against the wings, all those turnovers that I talked about were capitalized on by Detroit, Mason looked awful too. They looked good against the Wild though.....consistency is key in the playoffs

There is just too big a difference between the Wild and the Red Wings though. We have been incredible against everyone else. Still make mistakes but we're getting the wins. Beating teams like Dallas and San Jose is incredible, but still Detroit is just on another level. It sucks because they always win and I hate them so much. Why can't another team be dominant? There is no other team out there I hate more than Detroit, and I know it's not just because they always win. So many of their players are just total douche bags. They put a bad taste in my mouth which sukcs because I love hockey.typer1112;171038 wrote:ya they looked awful against the wings, all those turnovers that I talked about were capitalized on by Detroit, Mason looked awful too. Bad loss tonight. Putting us at 73 at #10,Dallas at #9 with 74, and Edmonton in the #8 seed with 75. We had the chance to make it a 3 way tie tonight, we dominated OT, but 3rd period was a little stale.
Hopefully we can rally from here on out and win to get us in that spot.

Stupid fucking loss tonight. Pisses me off that we lost that game. Vancouver had hardly any shots till their first goal midway though the 2nd, then they just got hot, and we sucked cock for the rest of the game.
C'mon you fuckers, your playing like you dont need points.
Fuck.
