Most of our team is young and I think that once they get more ice time and time with each other to form a bond and learn how each other play we will be good to go

I watch a lot of hockey, I have the center ice package and the NHL network, and I'm Canadian!! By star player, I mean someone that can single handedly win a game when the occasion arises in the playoffs, doesn't have to be someone who scores, could be a dman or a goalie, the Blues don't have one. Mason may be playing good now, but he's unproven and he faltered mightily in Nashville which had a far better team when he played there then the Blues do now. The Blues haven't had a good goalie since Cujo left. Now if this Jake Allen kid is supposedly as good as they think he will be, might be a year or 2 before he plays for the blues, it could get interesting.

Kariya is washed up and done, he was when they got him, he can no longer score or dish out assists like he used to. Tkachuk can still score some garbage goals but he'll be done soon, he's definitely not worth the money he's making.

I think John Davidson is on the right path, but there's still some concerns, the Blues haven't drafted anyone that has been worth a shit in a long time, Jackman sucks, don't even say him, I can't even believe he's still on the team, the guy turns the puck over all the time, he seems scared out there, he's no where near the same player he was his rookie season. Erik Johnson is still a ?, he played decently last year, we'll see how he does next year.....as for the other players, they look promising, but no superstars. I like Perron's playmaking, Oshie's tenacity and energy. I think they have a good mix of players, minus some of the players I've mentioned that need to go. If they could get a top notch goalie and another top player (defensemen or offense) they could put up a good fight and make it deep in the playoffs, but until then or until the rest of the draft picks mature and whether they can keep all of these young players before they go elsewhere, the cup will not come to st louis.

Like I said, I'd rather have a team that wins games then someone single handedly. It's the only way to win the cup in my opinion. No the Blues haven't had a good goalie in a long time but I see Mason being it. He just needed the starting roll. Kariya & Tkachuk aren't as washed up as your making them out to be in my opinion. Tkatchuk sitll scores goals & not garbage goals. Kariya when he gets back he will hopefully play the way we know he can. There is always concerns with a team. You can't ever be perfect. Yet with all this young talent we are making things happen. Yes it took awhile for them to feel each other out & get it together but I see big things possible within the next 3 years. Not saying cup but pretty damn close. If anything we need a Defense men & to keep playing how we are playing. Al needs to come out of retirement. Haha.

I agree you need a team to win, but in the playoffs you need that one player to dominate a game or even a series, it happens in almost every playoff series

I'm liking the blues chances in a few years. Looking at Perron, Backes, Oshie, Berglund and Boyes I see a lot of promise offensively. Defensively we're getting there and would be much better back there with johnson. I agree in saying that Jackman isn't so hot...we could do without him. And as far as goaltending, Mason just needs to stay hot.

Obviously you know nothing about hockey...having a player that completely hands down dominates may work in high school and major junior hockey but not in the nhl..sidney crosby and evgeni malkin 2 of the top 3 players in the nhl and definitely the best 1-2 in the nhl and they lost in the cup..example anaheim ducks won the cup in 07 I believe.... no highly touted forwards....

And for your star players...maybe you haven't heard of erik johnson, tj oshie, patrick berglund, alex pietrangelo, jake allen, ian cole...every one of these guys has the ability to become completely dominant players in the nhl....actually erik johnson is pretty much there..

The blues next year will be the blackhawks of this year...gaurenteed..

And another thing ask any coach gm hockey watcher anything...CHRIS MASON has been the best goalie in the nhl since the break...hands down

LOL, you obviously didn't read my posts, I never said a star player that scores, I said a star player that can control a game on his own.....07 for example, ducks had Pronger and Scott Niedermayer, both dmen could control the tempo of the game and not to mention control any opposing forward from scoring at all....or go back to the Avs when Patrick Roy played and would win games standing on his head or shit go back to 93 or his rookie year in 85/86 when he won cups for those teams and they were no where near being the best team, he carried those teams to the cup.....what I'm saying is that every stanley cup winning team has that one player that steps up and leads the team, not just with scoring, crosby and malkin could be that player some day, maybe this year who knows, they were too young and inexperienced last year, and Detroit would just throw Lidstrom, Zetterberg, and Datsyuk out there to shut them down....................the blues don't have this player, Johnson may be that player one day, but who knows, goaltending is still an issue with this team and that's the 1st thing you need to win a cup

Mason the best goalie since the break? maybe, there are others that are playing just as good, Mason in Columbus, Luongo, .... he's been hot lately but it won't last, blues make far too many mistakes every game, opposing teams will start capitalizing

Blues being this years Hawks next year, won't happen unless they add some free agents, none of the young players the Blues have are even close to what Kane and Toews are, nor do they have the mobility and ability to pass the puck like the hawks defense does, goaltending isn't as good as the hawks either, huet and khabibulin are way better than mason and both have been their entire careers, keep dreaming

Like I said, the Blues are on the right track but are still missing key components, if they could add some free agent players this summer, this will be sped up, but ???

No the blues decided the year after the lockout that we were gonna rebuild and they have done amazing at rebuilding the team...we have the best prospect base in all of the nhl... don't believe me? Hockeyfutures.com... most popular hockey website outside of nhl.com... and also you did say the blues had no "legitimate star player" and I gave you a list that could easily be right there next year...and the blues easily could have had pronger this offseason.. Anaheim made a phone call at dead line and said pronger for oshie and the davidson declined instantly and hung up the phone..
