Last year an un-uniformed officer slammed me to the ground with in the same second that I asked to see ID proving he was a cop. He indeed was, i was hauled in.

Cops are dicks/bitches until proven otherwise

sadly this is true with some cops. i guess they feel they need to prove their authority. most of the cops ive delt with have been nice but there have def been 2 or 3 that are complete dicks

There are really good cops out there. I can't count the times I've been nailed for something I deserved and actually wasn't mad when the cop was finished. Those cops are just doing their jobs. The ones who bring the attitude or an "above the law" mindset that cause problems. The biggest issue I've noticed is, many cops became cops so the can "show them". By them I mean people who harassed and offended the would be officer. Then when the power trip kicks in, bad times unfold. When I sit and think about the stupid shit I have tickets / Jail time for, I'm mad at myself. I deserved most of what I got, the difference is the way the numerous officers I met along the way handled the situation.

i just find myself more on the police side now a days becasue im really good friends with a lot of them and i see a lot of shit they have to put up with becasue they are just doing their jobs. one of my police officer friends is being internaly investigated now becasue he did his job. he didnt put his hands on anyone he didnt taze anyone he raised his voice to show his authority because he was out numbered 5-1 and because he scared the shit out of some kids ages 16-20 they said they were scared for their lifes and now he is in trouble cause one of them recorded him yelling at them on thier phone and went to a news station. but didnt tell them about the chase through the mall or them mouthing off and now he is in trouble and they are trying to sue and he had to say he was sorry for doing his job. so the way i look at it is there is always more to the story than we get to see

my brother is a cop, he is a douche, the asst. manager where i work is an ex-cop, he is a douche. that is 100% of the cops i know, therefore 100% of cops are douches. not really, but those cops crossed the line. the girl was in the cell, all that cop had to do was shut the door and fill out some paperwork. case closed. but he decided to be capt. badass and punch someone while being held down by two grown men. all i know, next time im getting arrested, i want the shit kicked out of me so i can buy a house.

I will completely agree with that. I know the recording you speak of. Publicly people are too damn quick to not take responsibility for their actions. And there with the dis-like for cops that many share, its easy to get people behind you if a cop even seems to be outta line.

When I get stopped I just wait. I'm expecting a dick but, i know better than to trust that judgment. Usually within the first sentence you can tell if you've got a dick or not. If i get a ticket I "probably" broke the law.

The flip side is: In my line of work I deal with local sheriff depts. on a weekly to daily basis and there are some really great cops out there. Sadly they are shadowed by idiots with power trips.

The most common thing (all the time) is, I'm contracted to install something for either the county, or the dept its self. Some jack ass comes to where I'm working (a place that other officers walk me to and unlock the doors for me to get there) and ask me "What are you doing in here!?" I respond sensibly and I'd bet 95% of the officers always say something similar to this "oh, well gotta be careful by yourself in here, I was ready to draw my weapon"

Every time I hear it, I picture the guns blasting in the holster to his leg.... no luck so far.

Its cops like this, with nothing better to do then harass civilians that create the dislike I have for them.
