2009 SOLO DRIVERS SCHOOL - May 24, 2009 (Classroom session May 19, 2009)
The Solo Advisory Committee is pleased to announce that the 2009 Solo Drivers School is scheduled for Saturday May 24 at Gateway International Raceway. The school is an introduction to the sport of autocross (solo). It consists of three parts: an evening classroom session (May 19, 6-9PM), a driving school and entry in St. Louis Solo Series Event #3.
The classroom session will take place in the evening the week before the event. The place and time has not been finalized. The Saturday driving school begins at approximately 7:30AM with check in and a brief drivers meeting. Students will spend the day receiving one-on-one instruction in autocross driving techniques by top autocross drivers from the St. Louis Region of the SCCA. The school is expected to run through 4:30PM. Lunch will be provided. The solo event will follow the standard schedule of all St. Louis Region Solo series events.
Attendance is limited to thirty students. Preregistration is required; all students must commit to attend the classroom session on May 19, 2009. no walk-ins will be allowed to participate.
1 Any driver with a valid driver's license who has competed in fewer than five previous autocross events (St. Louis Region SCCA and/or any other car club) may participate.
2 Students must provide their own car.
3 Helmets (Snell 95 or newer) are required. Loaner helmets are available.
4 All students will be required to sign the standard SCCA insurance waiver.
5 Students under age 18 will be required to complete the SCCA Minor Waiver that requires signatures from parents or guardians.
Planning for this year's school is still in progress; entry fee to be announced soon. Full details including registration procedures will be posted on stlscca.org in early March. Contact the event chairman, Bryan Sechrist (bryan.sechrist@att.net) for more information.

I know that you said that the price is TBA but do you happen to know about how much this might run? I've been wanting to get into auto-X but just haven't been able to yet.

Yep, talk is cheap, but then so is this ... if memory serves me, something like $5099BlackHatch;165941 wrote:Same here
Note they've beefed this up with the classroom, and added in one event, so maybe that'll be up a bit, but they definitely work hard to keep the price "bit size" ... hopefully details and registration will be up soon, check often and jump at first sight as it fills super fast

Wow, I really want to do this. As long as it's under $75 or so, consider me a for sure.

I believe it is $50 for the school, and the regular autocross event is the day after (May 24th and 25th respectively). If any of you are interested, I can post the autocross schedule for 2009 in a separate thread.GTI-Guy;165945 wrote:Yep, talk is cheap, but then so is this ... if memory serves me, something like $50

The Solo school is worth it...you'll have plenty of seat time, and instructors (which I may be one of them) will help you improve throughout the day.
