paypal dispute?

Post by DC_T »

well...bought some used tokico illuminas from a dude on HT who said they had "less than 10k miles on them" and were "in perfect shape". right. got them today and the front strut has the dampening adjuster broken off and the threads are all jacked up. awsome. so, i pm'd the dude and just asked if he would refund my money and i'll send him the struts back (i'm sure that would be waaaay to easy), no response yet. i know people get screwed over all the time (and i have been plenty of times and just said fuck it) but i don't really care to be fucked over anymore. so, i'm thinking about using the paypal dispute deal since we went through paypal. anybody had any experience w/ filing a dispute on paypal? or, anybody have any tips to give me to try and reason w/ this dude? i'm hoping he respons back w/ a "oh my bad i didn't realize that, sure i'll give your money back" (haha right). just wondering what my options are here. any advice?

I had to dispute a payment one time with a dude over some pistons. People dont like getting their money taken back. The first step of the dispute is trying to resolve it with the other party... which in your case isnt going so good. Im not really sure paypal will do much for you, (my shit was through ebay), but hell go for it anyway. lol. You can always cancel the dispute.

Where did the funds from from? If you used a credit card, just dispute it with your CC company. CC company takes money from PayPal then PayPal takes it from the guy you got the shocks from. Then, if he wants them back, tell him to issue a call tag.

Do you know this for a fact. I disputed charge with my CC company. The took it from paypal and negatived my balance and didnt take it from his account.

Paypal only gaurentees delivery of item, not quality or condition. Sucks to hear chris.

They've changed their ways a little bit in the last year. A friend of mine POSITIVELY reversed a charge on his CC and he got his money back. They took the funds from the person that paid him. May not be the case all the time but it typically is anymore. Yes, I have been hosed by a guy from overseas on some Gathers rear panels for a hatch I used to have. He sent me panels and speakers that were completely different than pictured in the auction. They had been cut in half with a sawzall. PayPal told me to send the product back and they would refund my money. Problem was, it cost more in shipping than the refund would be so I just took the loss.

You can also dispute and say it was not as described. They will then say you can send the product back with proof of delivery. If you are leery, just send them a brick at first so it shows delivery of a heavy package. If you get your money back in the end, you can send them their shocks back....

Bottom line is this: FailPay sucks.
