Subaru actually posted a +0.3% increase in 2008. That is amazing considering that most other car makers were posting over -30% decreases in sales.

On a personal note, my 1995 Legacy was a great car. Not terribly fun or quick, but completely reliable and it had a worry-free DOHC EJ22.
