best place to buy wire loom?

Post by DC_T »

Hey guys. i am trying to finish up my tuck, and i need a pretty good amount of wire loom and a decent amount of that expandable sleeving usually used for computer wires (http://cableorganizer.com/expandable-sleeving/). obviously i know i can order it online from the link i posted, they have all the sizes of split loom and sleeving i need, it just sucks to wait for it, not to mention pay close to $20 to ship it. Just wondering if anybody knows of a good place to buy loom/sleeving from. most places just sell it in 5' sections, but i need close to 30ft of this stuff and in various lengths and diamaters. thanks for any help!

waytekwire.com has both

I have used the techflex f6 line. I won't ever use wire loom again, even if the sleeving is more expensive

5thgen, i'm guessing you used the wrap style flex sleeving? did you just zip tie it together after you wrapped the wires? i was debating on going with the wrap around kind or just the normal tubing kind. didn't know which would be easier to work with, but with the plugs and stuff the wrap around kind seems like it would probably be easier than trying to feed the plugs through the tubing style.

I think most people just use heat shrink on both ends to keep the loom in place. IMO, the loom that 5thgen posted is way better then normal plastic wire loom. Its easier to use and the finished product looks much nicer. I know RyWire and ChaseBays both use that style loom on all their harnesses.

I thought it might be weak and split open a lot when I first got it. But it actually holds its shape very well. I was worried about more "wire work" after I wrapped it....which is the main reason I got the split style. I do heat shrink the ends to try and get them to hold to the wire. It works most of the time, just try and keep the shrink tube long on the flex wrap.

I agree, i think the flex stuff looks way better than the plastic loom. definitly a better finished product. i was planning on looming my main harness in the flex loom, but i was a little timid to run the headlight harness inside the fenders w/ the flex loom. after reading about it, sounds like as long as all my connections are covered in heat shrink, that loom would work. and yes, rywire and chasebays harnesses look great. thats what i'm trying to model mine after :wink2:

good idea man. i may have more wire work in the future, and it would really suck to have to pull all the wires out of the flex loom if it wasn't split, then re-run them all.

i appreciate your guys help. guess i'm going to try the wrap flex loom stuff.
