Thoughts about G n' R-Chinese Democracy

So, for those who have paid attention to the band for years as myself, we have waited 13 years for this material to finally see the light of day. I held out and never downloaded any of the rough-mixed tracks, so this past week was the first time i had herd any of this material.

I must say, its pretty much exactly what i was expecting, and thats a good thing. All together, i dont think the songs are that bad. There are a few GREAT cuts: Better, If the World, Catcher in the Rye, and my favorate, Sorry. Sorry is a dark, doomy song with some awesome lyrics akin to a breakup. However, there is a part of me that wants to hate this record, since it has nothing to do with the G n' R we all loved circa 1989. This should be called the Axl Rose solo project or something because it sounds nothing like the G n' R material of yesteryear, due to a totally different lineup of musicians.

So, for those of you that have the album, what are your thoughts?
