Does this look like a scam??

Post by eh2_Erik »

So i have some tires up on craigslist. i got an email from a guy named James Cole.
Hi ,
I really appreciate the information given towards making this transaction a successfull one........I will like us to carry on with this deal with trust and understanding. I'm okay with the least price $100 + $50 for removing it from Criagslist .....I'll be offering you the $150 for it...I will really appreciate it if you can get back to me with your full details because i will asked my business associate who is presently in Michigan to issue out a payment cashier check for the amount ($3000) which will be covering the shipping cost because the shipping firm will be picking it up along with some other goods that are to be shipped in the state. Get back to me with full details.

YOUR NAME IN FULL...............
CONTACT ADDRESS....
CITY.....
STATE......
ZIP-CODE...............
PHONE NUMBER........................

Pls do not bother about any other buyer, i believe things will work as planned. Concerning the pick up i've arrange that with my shipping firm because they are picking it up along with other goods that are to be shipped for me. All you need to do is to get the check cashed immediately you do receive the payment, deduct the total cost and get the remaining fund send to the shipping firm same day via western union money transfer or Money gram so that the shipping firm will be coming to your location to arrange for the pick up.Hope to hear from you ASAP.
Best Regards and Stay blessed ...............

N.B Make sure you mail me back immediately you get this message in other to proceed.
Regards
it just seems really sketchy to me. What do you guys think?

Not quite following ... He's telling you he'll give you $3k cashier's check, you cash it , keep $150 and then send $2,850 to the shipping company so they can continue their pickups?

If so, ask him why he would trust a stranger to give $2,850 back, or for that matter, not keep the entire $3k and keep the tires? Only an idiot or a scammer would propose this, and I suspect the cashiers check would be fake. I've heard of those used for ebay car purchase scams, but for tires ... doesn't make sense

Tell him this sounds like too much risk for him and see how he responds

just tell him to go ahead and send the check, when you get it throw it away, and never respond back to anything he has to say. Just waste his own time.
