the joys of working downtown

Post by dodgin_it »

for those of you that know me, i <3 crime shows and watch them borderline excessively. today, i had my own personal CSI experience. way too close for comfort.

i arrived at work around 8am. my building is at 14th street and olive. across from the parking lot is the beautiful scenery of "hobo park." one can always find several homeless persons and drug addicts sleeping on benches or cuddling up under cardboard boxes. well this morning, it was a crime scene. yes, thats right. a CRIME SCENE.

a homeless white woman was found naked, assaulted and stabbed. there was crime scene tape, detectives and crime lab vans. it was a spectacle. i found myself waiting for Det. Gil Grissom or Nick Stokes to pop out of the van with fingerprint dust and DNA swabs at any moment. numerous homeless bystanders were watching as the body was picked up and put on a stretcher. my curiousity got the best of me, so myself and a few other co workers went to investigate. the woman was murdered early this morning. she is also most likely one of our clients (i'm a social worker). i interviewed several bystanders and found out the woman's name, what she looked like and other details. thanks CSI and Law & Order for my criminology degree via satellite.

as if things couldn't get creepy enough, CSI detectives took photos of blood stains that were on the front steps of OUR building. to make matters worse, the blood may not belong to the murder victim. apparently, last night, a male and female were sleeping on our front steps, got into an argument, and the female stabbed the guy in the face. thats right, she stabbed him in the face, he survived, she went to jail. so it may be his blood.

and on a final note, last week another homeless was killed and his body was dumped on the steps of the library NEXT door to my building.

i think i need a new job. AND a sawed off shotgun.

I chased a bum down Wash Ave one time after he stole my umbrella, and I know Jai has personally threaten to stab more than one bum in the eye with a pen before.

No, it's wrong if you take pics and then go home and "play" to them.

You freak.
