should i trade?

stopped by a small town dealer today for a friend and saw a da teg there. it has 137xxx. 5spd 2dr. its all stock.

the good:
-137xxx
-super cold a/c
-leather
-super clean engine, looks like its been cleaned recently
-power windows and sunroof

the bad:
-driver's seat has rip in usual place
-stock radio and probably speakers
-faded paint on hood
-passenger window doesnt work
-cruise doesnt work
-needs new tires

the dealer wants $2900 for it. but i could talk him down. they have a dx coupe up there with 217xxx and are asking $3250, so if i were to sell them my car, i would ask for more, even though its not worth it, because they are asking so much out of it. what do you guys think about it? i miss my old DA which is the only reason im even considering. let me know what you all think

You'll never see near $3,250 out of your coupe. AJ got $2,300, $200 under KBB, for my old coupe w/ under 100k miles. And that DA is no where near worth $2,900. Shopping for 15 year old cars at a dealer is a waste of time.

ya i know. neither car is worth the price they are asking. but im just saying thats what i would shoot for it i were to do the deal with them. they are asking $3250 for a car that has higher miles, less options, and is in worse condition than mine. which is why i would tell them i wanted at least that much out of mine, even though it is way over priced. im just trying to decide if i should try and get the da, or if i should just keep my car

Dealers buy those cars for $400-$500 wholesale. There is no way they're going give you over a $1000 for your coupe as a trade.

Keep your car. Quit trying to trade it for shittier cars.

Indeed even though they are selling it for $3250, they will give you no where near that. Sorry

if that dealer is going to assrape someone that bad on the dx, I would imagine that they have the price of that teg too high also.

if you're going to be looking at older cars, you're only going to get deals by dealing with private owners, all the dealer is doing is flipping a $5 wholesale special to unsuspecting suckers. The private owner will also divulge more of what's wrong with the car in question.

I still vote that you save your cash and set your sights a little higher.

yeah i agree with them ... dude save your money .. somthing better will pop up for you
