Anyone know anything about Paint?

Post by adio3x »

Im talking about like art paint, not spray paint. I have this great idea for the Import Alliance valve cover design contest, but I plan on straying away from the common stencil and spray paint idea.

So heres my question, does anyone know what kind of paint I can use that I can apply a clearcoat on top of or do most paints allow it? I don't plan on having the vc go back into any car. Thanks in advance!

Just use unreduced automotive grade paint and apply it with a brush, Im guessing thats what you want to do is brush it on, or buy a cheap airbrush. A lot of the art paints will probably bleed together if you clear over them or will cause the clear to fisheye, cuz most art paints are oil based. Ive got plenty of colors layin aroud that Steph could sell you for cheap though.

Yea I was talking about the oil based paint but was afraid that it would run together. Is there anything like that, like I can get a ton of different colors and mix them on a pallet with a brush, then use a clear coat.

Heres my Idea......

Sure....why not I mean it cant hurt to try, I would try it out on a peice of scrap and see how it reacts to being cleared first though

which one are you doing? the great wave, or the darker one?

there was a Fit down at Nopi Atlanta last summer with the great wave muraled over its entire hood... looked sick.
