Car and Mack truck collide in St. Charles Co., man dies

A man was killed early today when he drove into the path of an oncoming Mack truck on Highway K in St. Charles County.

Kurt W. Zurweller, 24, of O'Fallon, Mo., died at the scene.

About 1:35 a.m. today, Zurweller was driving a 2004 Dodge Stratus north on Highway K. Just north of Pheasant Meadows, he drove into the path of a southbound 2006 Mack Conventional truck.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says the truck driver tried to avoid Zurweller's car, but they collided head-on. The truck driver, Daniel Shouse, of Camp Point, Ill., was uninjured.

This was 100 yards from my house right at my back yard! It's really sad that he was only a mile or so from getting home off South Outter Rd. :dunno: RIP

damn. all you see left on that car is the rear doors (b pillar) and back.

Yah. It was crushed under the truck from the back of the front doors up. They colided at 50mph each. The trucker told us he saw the car coming but it looked fine. When he looked again it was across 3 lanes and coming at him before he could really react! The police said they think he fell asleep but not for sure.

what a shitty day it has been, first i find out this morning that an old buddy i saw a couple weeks ago died in an accident....then i find out a little later it was right near the entrance of my subdivision and only 5 or so houses up the street from me...

I dont want to release what ive heard since its not concrete yet...hopefully its not

did u hear the crash? wow i saw it was right behind your house. My sister heard it but couldnt see what happened.

What a shame, kurt is leaving behind boy who has now lost a dad.
