Check out these winners (aka low rent, socially bankrupt, reprobates).

Admitting to racing on a regular basis, while having their names and a license plate shown on TV.

Really bright.
Yeah I saw this a few hours ago.

Reporter: "So, you didn't think to call the police or something after seeing this?"

Thuggin' White Kid: "Nah, not really... I was just too frightened... I didn't know what to do..."

Right... I'd say that's more of a life saying for him.

From the comments: "Fuck me, that one on the left looks like a Chevy pickup could beat him at an intelligence test, let alone a street race.

At least the one on the right looks like he's mentally picturing the state of his arse in three months time... "

She had the choice that night of any one of many options. She could have stayed home. She could have gone to Steak N Shake with friends. She could have gone to a friend's house. She chose wrong.

I mean it sucks for her friends and family to have to go through this because of her poor choice that night... but look on the bright side - maybe, just maybe, other kids who were thinking of doing the same thing will take a second look at the risk and choose to do something else.

Yeah... probably not. Kids are dumb these days.

Empathy, try it.

And I am sure at the young age of 17 neither of you made any bad decisions that could have possibly ended in tragedy. I understand "you play with the bull you get the horns logic", but when it is a young person's life it deserves just a slight touch of tact.

All the tact and empathy I have in this situation goes to her friends and family that are now hurting emotionally and financially because of this.

Call me cold-hearted or what not... I went to the Hall Street scene years ago and if something happened to me because of it, I wouldn't want to burden my people with it. I knew the risks but something about watching idiots being idiots was appealing to me on an otherwise boring night. No way in hell I would have stepped foot onto the road while that was going on though.

What does quoting a stupid TV show have to do with this?

It is clinically documented that teenagers do not have a fully developed frontal lobe which can be directly attributed to poor decision making. I was just saying have a little empathy for a young life that might be lost and god forbid show some tact.

No inside info, just real world experience working in Level 1 ICU setting and witnessing first hand the detrimental affects of swelling of the brain.
