we were evacuated from the house around 1:45am
but I don't recall hearing any fireworks around the time when the car would have caught on fire... if it was a firework, it must have been smoldering in that trashcan for a good hour+ before we found the car on fire.
I don't think we could hear anything inside the house with all the people in there. My neighbor who called 911 saw the fire cuz he heard shawn's car alarm going off. Everyone I've talked to said they didn't hear it. They just remember thinking the xbox was overheating cuz they thought they smelled something burning.

Hell at least they listened to you. When I heard get out of the house it's on fire, I walked a step out of the house saw the fire and immediately went downstairs to TRY to get people out. But when I went down in a calm collective manner to get everyone to leave they all gave me a "WTF are you looking at kid" look so I just went back outside.

Yep if I come down and ask you very politely to leave because the house is on fire, would you do it, or would you not saw a word to me and just keep drinking you collective booze. That's exactly what happened, no one said a word to me and I walked into the three areas in the basement and let each group of people know what was happening, but to no avail. So I say if you don't listen to someone who says you house is on fire then I'll just go save my ass because I KNOW the house is on fire.

And yes I waited this long to come forward and say it was me who did this because it bothered me a little that I didn't get the slightest response from anyone in the basement. It wasn't until the next day that i overheard someone say that the saw a guy come down to tell everyone to leave but no one did anything.

Ok, my mom heard you but didn't believe you because you were being so calm, it took her a minute to register what you had actually said. Thats why no one moved. It's one of those things that takes you by surprise and as i said before, it took a few to register what was actually going on. The fact that everyone was drinking I'm sure added to it.
I'm sorry if it bothered YOU that it took people by surprise and didn't register what you were saying at least your car still runs and you don't have to fix your house.

I would think that given the situation, a frantic running and yelling approach would have been more affective... also, generous usage of the word "fuck" such as:
"FIRE! Get the fuck out of the fucking house!" or "The fucking house is on fucking fire, get the fuck outside!" etc...

The reason I didn't do this is because that makes everyone hysterical and that makes people run around. At that point I didn't know how far the fire had spreed, but I knew it was near the far side of the house (were the stairs lead up out of the basement) so I didn't want people to run out the garage because at that point I thought that's were the fire was at. I would also like to explain why I was so clam, I've been in the situation were houses and cars are on fire (and situations that surpass this one in urgency, but this is nether the time nor place for those instances), and I've been the hysterical one, so i know it does no good when people are running around aimlessly. So I tried to calmly get everyone to leave so no one got hurt. So I would like to apologies if anything I said in a previous post upset you Angie, but i was just trying to help, but one person can only do so much before the other parties involved need to help themselves aswell.

I would have also believed it was a joke. If someone comes up to me and says "um yeah excuse me your house is on fire please leave" I would laugh thinking it was a joke. if I were to say "Holy fuck seroiusly get the fuck out your shits on fire!" I would eave immediatly. most people dont even THINK about somehting like that happeneing when people are having such a great time. Obviously it would have put someone in a panic state but I think that happened when they saw the car and house burning, so either way if you tell them nicely to get the hell out of the house people still would have been the same way.

..Moral of THIS story...Panicking, yelling, cursing, will yield better results and more lives saved then calmly explaining what is going on.
