b series or d series?

Post by Jar Jar Binks »

NA can be quick... but it is pretty much a waste of money....

and much like a supercharger... there is a definate cap on how high you can take the power

if you want to spend lots of money, be somewhat different (no one can really truly be different in a honda), the go NA...

if you want to go faster cheaper... turbo is the way

Build a gsr motor man, its cheap and with minor things and the right parts it can be mean. You know how fast my gsr is and that is with stock cams and no forced induction. I have walked a few turbo d series although they can be fast if done the right way. Its worth the extra cash to get a dohc in my opinion

turbo d's can be fast but a built gsr is a better daily driver with less chance of popping it, you should just buy my ride D...lol

Bob, take me for a ride in your car so I get a feel of how much hp I'll be looking at. Cause its a differnt feel when you're in a v8 ford explorer xlt and then your in a b series honda.

i don't care if i have to put 50,000 into it i will have the car i wont (in time) becuse it will make me happy to of built it. if i wonted cheap and fast id just go N02. and be done with it.

It's like a friend always told me, you can have only 2 not 3. cheap, fast, reliable. you can't have all 3 only 2.

i disagree... mine is cheap fast AND reliable... i dont know my hp figures yet, but i will tell you i get NO traction through first and second gear, and higher rpms in 3rd will make the car pull from side to side... i havent spent more than 1500 on my turbo setup and it is reliable enough to still get over 30 miles per gallon and not break when constantly boosting and slowing down...

i dont know why people think it cant be done...

ps. on 9 psi, i walk on mustang gt's all day
I miss my honda ;(

well first of all if you prepare an engine for nitrous like you SHOULD then it would cost equally as much as putting on a turbo or a supercharger. I also agree with him^ it is possible to have all three. Hot rodding started with low budget daily drivers that were meant to go faster. back in the day people only had one car, so it HAD to be reliable if they wanted to make it go fast for cheap.

cheap= value of car + parts installed
reliable= it stays runnin
fast= just that it's fast.

example= 1991 talon awd tsi. can b found cheap, and they are fast but not reliable and if they are even a bit reliable then they are not cheap.

example= evo 8 fast and reliable not cheap

example=95 civic si cheap and reliable, not fast at all.and if it is then it's not cheap.

example= my car not cheap not reliable (as of late) and not fast. I THINK I NEED A NEW CAR!

example=my car...
cheap (bought 2 years ago for 3300 + 1500 on turbo - 1000 for 2 years of declining value = 3800);
reliable... tell me that 9 psi daily beating isnt reliable;
and fast (would you call a car that doesnt get traction in 1st or 2nd gear slow?)
I miss my honda ;(
